If you were the "major donor" would you have wanted to call BK and fire him yourself?

No joy in someone losing a job. Why do even think like that?
Posted on 10/28/25 at 8:28 am to sidewalkside
No. It’s purely transactional with that kind of wealth. You’ve already had your FaceTime with him and know “who he is” to an extent.
Just time to move on and get the next guy in

I’d want to tell Scott Woodward to his face that he’s getting fired

The guy is getting millions to be fired and very possibly wasn't doing his job. I have no sympathy for Kelly. He isn't the average Joe losing his job

I just don’t understand people thinking this is like a guy losing his job at the plant. BK knew what he was signing up for and made sure he was taken care of in his contract if things didn’t work out. Even with the morality clause stuff, if it’s true, he is covered. LSU and the state of Louisiana are the ones that should be getting the sympathy!

Having no sympathy is not the same as having joy.
I have no sympathy for Kelly. I am happy that LSU will get a new coach. I get no joy in Kelly being fired, though I agree it had to happen.

It's pretty wild seeing people actively celebrating this. I'm glad he got fired, but the whole thing makes me feel really bad inside. For Nuss, for LSU, for Kelly, for Woodward, for the donors, for everyone.
This isn't a reality TV show. These are people's jobs, futures, and money.

This post is fricking pathetic.

frick the call, I would've done it at midfield just after the clock reached 00:00

If it were me, which it's not since I couldn't quite liquidate $25 million, I'd have the following demands.
1. yes, I'd want to fire him myself
2. the next coach can't be hired without a yes from me
3. I have a private suite for me and my family/friends for life in Tiger Stadium and Alex Box
4. men's basketball gets a new coach within a year

It's not the same thing to be glad something happened as it is to be overjoyed and celebrating.
You can be glad something happened because it's the best decision long-term, and at the same time not be overjoyed that what happened cause suffering, and/or was predicated by suffering.
But then again, I'm assuming you're from Louisiana so this might be a little too much for most of us here.

There should still be no joy in it. You can be grateful that LSU made the decision and will right the ship, but taking joy in another persons failures and discomfort is odd.

You either feel bad about it or you don't. A possbile alcoholic, cheating, from all accounts a-hole was being overpaid to mail it in while blaming everyone but himself. As a parting gift, he gets millions of dollars to leave a place he hates. This guy didn't get fired from the grocery store for putting the beans on the wrong shelf.

If you truly think it's this simple, it makes me wonder from what other areas of your life are you eliminating nuance.

It is. We had an employee get fired from work a couple months ago. Dereliction of job duties. He was a good guy, but I don't feel bad for him as he was 100% in control of his employment and blew it.
Now imagine how I feel about someone making 100x what he did getting a 300x+ payout in the same situation.

Again, not feeling bad for someone is not the same thing as celebrating someone's downfall.
Are you devoid of empathy? At the end of the day he is a human. All of this sneaking around, taking photos of him, spewing hatred, it's just antithetical to the American value of respecting everyone even when you disagree with them or don't like them.
BK seems like a prick. I don't particularly think he's a good guy. He shite the bed during his time here. He made me so fricking angry I wanted him gone.
But now he is gone, so let it be. Let the man be. If you're holding on to anger about this, or getting joy from seeing his demise, truly, you need to speak to someone.
