Heading up the night of the 13th, scouting on the 14th, and staying until the 21st. I usually do a week or so of bow and then stay for a few days of rifle. That was the plan this year too, but being short staffed at work screwed that up for me. I would’ve gone for just bow, but my buddy’s coming and he doesn’t bow hunt. Confidence is low. Those deer go underground when the shots start popping off.

I went last year during the archery season, the area i was in borders a CA that is mainly duck hunting (CA is closed for deer hunting 2 weeks before opener of duck season). Shots from duck hunters were happening all around me and they didnt even budge. Hoping they stay that way when i go up.

What part of MO you going to?

Heading up 11/4 to bow hunt then muzzleloader starting the 15th. Will be coming home on the 22nd.

I had the same experience with my bow last year. Killed a stud with muzzleloader, though. My cousin is a reloading nut and we got the load on that sucker accurate enough to group well at 300 yards.

I think what I'm most excited about is that we aren't staying in tents this year

I’ll go if I kill quickly in Kansas. I’m not planning on that happening, as I’m going to be a bit picky.

Yep. It’s not fun. Saw 3 that were at a minimum 150” all 250 yards away.

Best of luck to you

Northeast. Used to hunt the northwest, but got the invite a few years back to go with my cousins group, and been going with them ever since.

I called in a giant last year, easy 160’s, to 30 yards. He stopped behind a tree, looked around and didn’t see a deer, got sketched out and took off back up a ridge to link back up with his does. Could’ve easily killed him with my rifle. That was the last day of bow. Went back the following morning with my rifle, and of course, he didn’t show back up.

I will be towards the NE as well. Some hammers are up there.

Sounds like you and i will be back for blood for those big dudes that avoided us. Hopefully we get on them.

Flying in on the 13th to spend a week at my buddy's farm north of Columbia. Been working my tail off so it will be a welcomed break.

If you don't mind me asking. Can you give me any details of your call method in that area in early rut?

3 to 5 short grunts?

With the weather this week and this weekend, I have optimism I can call one in for my son.

I'm headed up Thursday and will be up there till Nov 8th, so no gun season.

The weather should be good this year, unlike last years bullshite warm and rainy.

Tell me about it. That was miserable sitting in that rain all day. Had i known it was going to rain that much I would have stayed in LA to deer hunt.

I usually start getting serious about bow hunting up here around Halloween . First 5-10 days of November are usually good. I don’t rifle hunt but bow hunt throughout the season. I’ve been out twice and have seen some bucks. One good one. Gonna be on come Saturday. Good luck and wear lots of orange if you are hunting public.
