LSU boosters aren’t going to spend this money without an ROI. Landry will probably tie some of his legacy to the hire.

Kiffin will put butts in seats, eyes on TV, and make money for LSU. Look at U of Alabama what happened after Saban. The school blew up.

All hires are gambles but with Lane, at least you get a great ROI with same chance at winning like the others

He has not gotten over the hump to a NC yet either. CBK got there once and got whipped by Bama. Will not be Lane, need a proven big-name coach that has NC experience and SEC experience.

Yep. And this is why anyone who mentions an "up and coming coach" is completely out of touch with reality.

LSU has to hire a big name.

What other coach has? Day or Smart?

Ole Miss would have been in playoffs in 2021,2023, and 2025 with format. Ole Miss can’t get the defense they need consistently due their lack of resources.

Our little brother is kicking our arse and our red head step brother (A&M) is as well.

We just did that last hire, and just fired him..... so.....?

Ohio St, Oregon, and Georgia hired successful coordinators from big programs and look where those 3 are now....

After Miles and BK offense, it would be a nice change. I think he knows how to get the athletes engaged

Yeah, it didn't work out...and? Doesn't mean another big name won't work. Also, the landscape of college athletics has changed drastically in the last 4-years.

Didn't say it had to be a current HC, just a big name.

Everyone knew those names and understood the potential upside.

I said, "up and coming".

I was thinking about this earlier. If he wants it, I think having 2 of LSU's NC winning coaches vouch for you would probably be too much to ignore. You would have Whit probably working for you to keep the roster together while he's still around. You have Austin Thomas as the GM who worked with Kiffin already in the building among other guys. If there are any other connections, I don't know.

Why is that? He underperformed last year. He had one of if not the most talented rosters in the sec. Didn’t make the playoff and lost three sec games.

He’s the only sec coach to lose to Kentucky in the last two years.

The only good team he has played this yea, UGA, He lost!

He is likely not to win a game against a top 25 team by seasons end. His best win is currently OU who has two losses and still plays Tenn, Bama, Mizzou, and LSU.

He’s been fired three times, has never won a division, conference title, or championship.

Just because he beat LSU does not make him the standard we are looking for.

He wont at ple piss or the school he was at in florida. I think working and learning under saban helps but he needs the facilities and resources and thats lsu. Lsu is a top 5 program and kiffins best chance at a natty

As we saw with BK, these guys are not as hungry. Give me a guy that is hungry to get to and win a NC. BK was the most established and prestigious guy ever hired by LSU and he proved to be just looking for an easy paycheck on the verge of retirement. Not much better than Bill belechick at NC.

You cool with 14 million a year? 8 year term, guaranteed buyout? That's what it will cost.

He will also save us on the recruiting side as well

You’d think his name alone at LSU would attract at minimum high profile offensive guys
