There will be a LOT of "cooks" in the kitchen on this hire demanding their say. The Governor has and will continue to interject himself, along with his BOS appointees that are nothing more than his political donors. They won't keep their mouths shut about the search because they will ALL be looking to get attention. Woodward knows they will happily orchestrate a coup to dump him too if he doesn't abide by their wishes. There won't be a singular leader in this search.

In 1999 you had a strong Chancellor in Emmert. Saban was NOT the first choice of the AD and "good ole boys". Emmert pushed it through. In 2004 you had a strong AD in Bertman. Les was not the first choice either.

In 2016 LSU had a weak AD and President. The result was O after a lot of in-fighting for two seasons before him. Against all odds it worked out...then quickly fell apart. In 2021 there was trust in Woodward. 3.5 years later that is gone.

This search has all the ingredients of being a total mess

Scott isn't making this hire.

He will almost certainly be gone shortly after new U Prez is named and a new AD will come in.

Scott may be here when the new coach is landed, but most people are saying he is not leading the charge on the search

Woodward is part of the JBE group. JBE and Barnhard controlled the BOS, so what are you saying? That Woodward was hired by an independent board?

Woodward was a lobbyist before he came to the athletic department. He is very political and has some very political friends. What has happened is that the political winds have changed in the State. A new President and a new direction is very much needed at LSU. They have not eliminated any of the DEI positions and have lowered the standards of admissions. That has affected every University in the LSU system. There is a lot more stuff going on around this. It needs to happen.

Woodward fell into Mulkey, she wanted to come home and had a falling out with the new AD at Baylor. SW wanted the coach at Fla and allowed politics to stop him coming. So, JJ wasn't his first choice, and he lucked in to it. He has botched all the revenue generating hires and really upset people. Baseball and WBB don't pay the bills.

SW needs to go, If he isn't on the same page as the new president, no one would blink an eye with him being gone. It is how the University is structured and both need to have that understanding. If anything, Verge needs to be gone along with him. His FIL is a huge part of the problem at LSU.
