Last November, LSU was feeling good with the #1 class including the highest rated QB in years, and then Michigan unexpectedly swiped him away after LSU had put in years of work and were clearly planning to build the next three years around him.

Besides the then-big win at Clemson, it seems like LSU has been behind the 8 ball ever since losing Underwood.

Yes? No?

Was definitely a sign of incompetence. Underwood was Sloan's only saving grace. With him decommitting there was no reason to keep him on the staff for this year.

I don’t blame the young man for taking that kind of money and going to Michigan.

It would’ve been very unwise to match that offer for a high school senior, especially when that money was used to acquire other proven players via the portal.

Plus everybody was wondering about nuss declaring for the draft. Everybody in the building sighed with relief when nuss said he was coming back. Partly bc of the underwood situation, but nobody saw this debacle coming.

We were winning the NC and BK had receipts, remember?

When nuss started struggling (the whole damn season) that’s when fingers started pointing at Sloan. Who knows how much is ultimately his fault, but I blame Kelly for sticking with nuss despite him being hurt, despite him playing poorly, despite him limping after every play, despite topical lemon juice I mean wtf.

Maybe Kelly promised him he’d stick with him if he came back. Maybe loyalty to Sloan was really driving decisions it shouldn’t have. Maybe “loyal to a fault” was his downfall.

Whatever it was, I’m glad it’s over.

‘Ezride25’ I totally agree, it’s all on BK for staying with Nuss during injury and poor performance. I really like Nuss and he bleeds purple n gold, but when you can’t move and our line can’t block we have to make changes. Since BK did not he had to go. I just can’t believe LSU made such a quick decision. Way to go LSU…..
