While we’re throwing names out… Willie Fritz

Dudes pulled off an amazing turnaround at Houston. Would probably be cheap(er) compared to other options.

I think Fritz's age will work against him. He should've been considered last time LSU opened but Woodward had to make a "splash" hire.

Hopefully this is a thing of the past.

Fritz is where his wife wants him to be. There is a reason why he turned down all the other job offers and took the Houston job.

Willie Fritz is legit
He undoubtedly is, but Tulane showed a lot of patience with him. He had a losing record until his next to last season there. Knows ball though and his teams are tough. Building a program at Tulane is impressive.
Also Tillman Fertitta and all of his billions would be a potential stumbling block.

Need someone younger, but he is a good coach.
I'd go low money, potential high reward in Jon Sumrall from Tulane.

Tulane absolutely killed it with their last two football hires. Speaking of which who is your AD

We have a relatively new one, the guy who hired Fritz (Troy Dannen) messed up every other hire he made with baseball and basketball. He left for UW for all of six months before Nebraska came calling, that’s where he is now.

I disagree about his age being a factor. Hanny and Gordy made a good point on the post game show last night. You can’t get in the mindset that you were looking for a coach to be there for 15 years anymore. You have to look at it as who can get me to the playoff at least twice in the next five years. No coaches are going to survive in the SEC for decades anymore. The game has just changed too much for that to be a possibility.
