Among other things. He’s living in Jay Johnson and Mulkey even though Mulkey and Jay fell in his lap.

He succeeded. He initiated his legacy with Jimbo's contract, solidified it with the Orgeron extension, then cemented it with the Brian Kelly whale hire. His legacy is he's a bad AD.

Cool is only great "hires" is a barely revenue producing sport and a revenue loss sport.

ADs should be judged on their CFB and men's CBB hires and in those hes been absolutely atrocious. It's one thing for the hires to not pan out, its another thing to give those hires ridiculously long contracts.

Man he hired a proven coach to fix what Orgeron blew up. It was probably the best possible hire at the time. It didn't work.

It's really simple. While Kelly was here, he made 2 bad hires in House and Sloan. They both seemed to be decent coordinators after their first years, until they didn't.

How did the relatively unknown west coast guy "fall into his lap?"

He wasn't at the top of any lists or projections.

I'd say he did make his lasting legacy at LSU through that hire, just not how he planned.

Obviously. An AD is supposed to want to do this.

Yes sometimes hires don’t work out. That’s life.

On paper, it was a great hire and BK should be winning.

At the time, Kelly at ND was thought to be untouchable. That was the best hire of the season, by many. Kelly was hired, folks were tracking Lincoln Riley.

A quick note, sometimes a player, a Coach gets let go for what happens off the field. This is the life they lead. They know it. A good friend of mine in the coaching profession, has had 14 stops. They know.

I'm certain Skip Bertman got Jay hired, very little to do with Fat Woodward on the front end.

What am I missing? How did CJJ fall into his lap?

Look say whatever about the Kelly hire, but CJJ was a home run, give the man some credit.

In my opinion, In order to retain Woodward, he should have a reduced salary for a number of years to compensate what he lost LSU.

He succeeded though. His legacy is set in stone now. Set out to catch a whale, came back with an old, soggy boot.
