Who do you like more as Gomez Addams?

Raul Julia or Luis Guzman? I would have liked to have seen Raul Julia (RIP) with Catherine Zeta Jones.

Guzman is good but Julia was more like Astin while Guzman is more like the comic.

My only criticism of Luis Guzman is he needed to lose 30 lbs to play counter to CZJ. I know, I know, he’s more comic version accurate. Don’t care. In live action it looks ridiculous. He can still be short and chunky while playing authentic to the cartoon, but he doesn’t have to be that freaking obese.
Most of us grew up, watching John Astin, and then Raul Julia play Gomez. That’s more of the template most people expect but I give Luis Guzman a tip of the hat.

Guzman is probably more in line overall with his original conception.
However Julia totally nails suave and intelligent, but eccentric and creepy. The Adams were presented as extremely wealthy. Gomez is basically a billionaire and I think Julia's portrayal fits that element of his character better.

I prefer Julia. He had creepy gravitas. Guzman just seems to be CZJ’s bitch in every scene.

This is one place where I’ve liked all the actors playing Gomez. Astin was my first intro to the character so still have fond memories of him. Julia did a good job of kind of mixing the comic character and Astins portrayal, and Guzman is a dead ringer for comic book character. Overall, the main casting in Wednesday is fantastic.
