Anyone have any tips on fishing lake salvador they would share? I just acquired a 18’ tracker over the summer. I went to launch at Bayou Segnette this past Sunday and the water was so high we couldn’t launch . It’s close to the house so i was thinking of starting to learn and fish it.

Haven’t been out that way in 20+ years but we had a hunting camp off temple bay from 1996-2003 and that lake would get pretty damn rough. Pick your days if you running across it.

It can be rough. Caught plenty bass and redfish in there this summer. The trout will be showing up shortly.

It's not know for great fishing. You will have some good days, but many more bad trips.

Years ago, when I was bass fishing regularly, we used to fish Temple Bay often when the tank pond was full of people or a change of pace. Like another poster stated it was very hit and miss with more misses than hits. I had a few good days there but mostly bad to average.

Used to fish that area quite a bit, and we used to do well in Temple Bay, as others said. Used to catch quite a few nice ones on the north side of Couba island, but that area has changed a lot, I am guessing, because of the diversion. You just have to get out there and give it a shot. It can be tough to find clean water in the spring.

Back when we had our lease in golden ranch people would go party on the point not sure if all the shells and oak trees are still there.

Redfish and bass are still plentiful in temple. Still a very good fishing destination. Trout will be in there in short order.

Man it’s crazy to think of trout there since when we first started hunting out there the grass was so thick it would choke an outboard and the poule deau would raft up by the thousands

Spoons around the small well heads has always produced. Drop as close to the actual head as you can. I really miss fishing there. Much has changed since last few storms ravaged area.

Not helpful but a csb. I was about 12 and my dad, my buddy and his dad went fishing with theophile Bourgeois on his yellow ranger. Many of you here probably know or knew of him so you know he was a first class guy and had quite the sense of humor.
So there we were fishing a bank in lake Salvador throwing spoons for reds. Not catching a damn thing. Well those doughnuts for breakfast were making a strong comeback. All of a sudden I had to shite my brains out.
12 year old me hadn’t been on too many boats at this point so I just announced to everyone that they better run me to the bank. Theophile insisted I just swing my arse over the side of the boat and let it go. So everyone gets to one side and I grab onto the console and let it fly. Straight up diarrhea, but immediate release none the less. My dad hands me his handkerchief which I got a few good wipes out of. Threw that in the water and we are all laughing at this point.
No less than 3 mins later we start hooking up on redfish at that spot and limited out.
That’s the only thing I remember about lake Salvador.

Definitely not as good as it used to be, but I guess you can say that for everywhere around here. Lack of habitat.
