Based on how he played, he would be getting called for roughing the passer constantly. Go watch his highlights and compare it to how they call the games now.

Tackle them when he could

Would he catch them?

The same thing every current LB tries to do. He wouldn’t be chasing Boomer Esiason and Joe Theismann.

Might not even get through the line with how much bigger the o line is now

quote:This is true for any LB that played in the NFL back then. Even college players from the early 2000's would get lots of penalties. LSU's defenses under Saban, and Miles first couple of years, knocked QB's out of games regularly. I think the 2007 team knocked QB's out of the first three games of the season. The 2003 team knocked Georgia's QB out of the game. It was a completely different game.

Josh Allen is bigger than LT so I guess he would dive at his ankles
He’d likely kill Burrow just by looking at him though

I think there was like a 15 month period where LT knocked 5 QBs out for the season and ended two of their careers. That's insane. QBs were terrified of him. He was freakishly quick and strong for his size.

I recall watching the old nfl film about LT. Giants were playing the Colts. At half time one if the colts player said something along of “let’s not try to take the lead in the 2nd hf. That would piss off LT”.

I have. Most of his hits were legal today

Um he had Randall Cunningham and Elway to chase.

Would he be able to “toot up” before the game?

I still remember that 2006 Arizona game. That qb damn near died.

They wouldn't let him touch them. That's why we have running quarterbacks.

We not comparing Cunningham, Elway, and Steve Young to the athletes playing QB now

Well, you'd have to project these modern-day QB onto the NFL of the 1980s.
If that were the case, Lawrence Taylor would simply do his thang and chase them down like a crazed dog, then annihilate them. "Athletic Running QB" no more.
There is zero-chance any of these guys (no matter their size or speed) would be tip-toeing down sidelines or dancing down the middle of the field and diving as seen during the last several years.
