Anybody have one or know anybody with one? We went to Florida last week and took our provided gas golf cart everywhere. Had to have all the normal fixings - headlights, tail lights, blinkers, horn, rear view mirrors, seat belts etc. but I'm curious why I've never seen one here. The laws look to be pretty prohibitive to a factory golf cart but it looks like once you add all the necessities, it can be registered as an Low Speed Vehicle and allowed to drive on streets with 35 mph or lower speed limits. Wondering if anyone else has gone this route as I could get a lot of use out of one between the house and the camp.

They are all over my hood. People take them to LSU games from Southdowns. No license plates. Cops don’t care. Half the vehicles in BR have no tags or fake tags.

Why are you worried about being legal in BR? Neither the cops nor the Prosecutors seem to be worried about it.

There are kids in my neighborhood who will ride around on golf carts or side by sides.. 4 wheelers also, but I thought it had to at least go 25 mph in Louisiana.

To be street legal, you have to do the same as your car I think... Register it, have a licenses, etc. From what I noticed, the example with the kids riding in the neighborhood, it doesn't seem like the police enforce as long they are are not on the main streets in and out the neighborhood. And if they see them doing something they shouldn't be doing, they will go let their parents know.

That's probably more of a "small town" thing. The police have kids who play ball or go to school with kids they see doing whatever, they let the parents know.. But do you have to go on a main road for a long time when driving to the camp? It might depend on where you live. Use common sense and do it until you get stopped? (when I say use common sense, I mean, don't do it if you have to travel on a busy road)

I can get from point a to point b at the house and at the camp without having to get on a state highway. As an upstanding citizen of the 70808, I would like to try to follow the rules and was mainly curious if any others have gone this route before me. I look like the type of guy who would pay off a traffic ticket and would hate to catch one of Sheriff Gautreaux's men on a bad day with nothing but "the neighborhood kids do it all the time."

I'll call a couple dealers and see what they say.

Just avoid Perkins and Highland and you'll be good. Plenty of golf cards riding around in the Kenilworth area. (No clue if they're "legal".)

We need to take care of these shitty arse kids on electric "bicycles" before we worry over the golf carts. I'm not in BR, but yesterday I had to deal with two shitheads riding their "bicycles" in the middle of a road with a 55mph speed limit.
