Mixed religious beliefs & legal immigration seem like the two biggest points of contention for the MAGA movement.

I don’t like it either. I’m happy to have good, legal, hard working immigrants, but assimilate, dammit.

I’m with Charlie Kirk here.

Politics isn’t the place to rigidly adhere to a religion. If people with different religions want to vote like I do, that’s great. If I want to preach to them I’ll do it elsewhere.

Kirk had the same message about homosexuality.

I agree

But I also recognize assimilation seems like it could be a slippery slope into taking away peoples rights. Freedom of religion and all that.

Assimilation doesn’t require conversion.

You couldn’t even hold public office (Virginia you could be Deist) upon the founding of this country unless you were a Christian. The very foundation for the Republic of the United States is based on Christianity.

I don't think you can have a unified country trying to simultaneously celebrate six different major religions and their holidays.

Cultural cohesion really dictates there should be one set of major holidays.

Individuals are free to celebrate whatever the heck they want for whatever reason they want, but greater society shouldn't be obligated to pretend every single holiday is of equal importance.

Just in general. That’s after seeing discussion on here, on X, and elsewhere online.

People have strong feelings about legal immigration & differing religious beliefs.

First amendment advocates today would have a lot of fun with religious requirements to hold public office.

And if you want to hand the country over to the Soros crowd, go ahead and stick to a 100% Christian political party.

Exactly.
