Let’s say BK likely tanks this season and most likely 2026…do you trust Woodward to make the next hire …?

It will be interesting to see if ADs still pay these obnoxious, guaranteed contracts or build a contracts with better incentives, team options and stipulations that the university will spend 8 figures on rosters.

My worry is that Woodward is going to, again, look for an older, more established name rather than get a young, fresh, motivated coordinator.

Honestly, it wouldn’t shock me if he finds James Franklin an attractive candidate.

Same fat guy that hired (and extended) Jimbo and Kelly for ridiculous guaranteed money? Hell no.

And now we’re at the point that we don’t want experience lol

Young fresh coordinators usually fail. Not always, but usually. Proven HCs don’t always succeed either, bc it’s a hard job, but experience matters.

I don’t trust him to make the hire for football or basketball, and I don’t trust him to negotiate a contract that is in the interest of LSU.

Someone has to finally step up and say enough is enough with the bullshite contracts these agents are securing for coaches. It’s a different world with pay for play. This should no longer be a thing.

He’s also the same guy who hired Jay Johnson and Kim Mulkey to LSU and it’s turned into 3 national championships. Didn’t he hire the gymnastics coach as well?

No one actually gives a flying frick about women’s basketball dude. The only reason they care is because our men’s team sucks and Woodward did indeed tank that program.

The argument isn’t about how much people care about the sport. Just stating the fact that he has hired national championship caliber coaches in other sports, and in baseball, it was a younger HC that wasn’t really at the top of people’s lists.

Not at all. SW will overpay for the lowest risk name that can still sell a few tickets. We can forget about a Clark Lea, Brent Key type.

I wonder how many programs have spent, NIL wise on women's basketball...

Reese had reported deals in the 1.6 mil dollar category...

It's no longer just about coaches. NIL spending can skew things a good bit esp if only 5 others teams are also spending similarly...

Why not? He hired the great baseball coach. He hired the great WBB coach. He hired a proven successful football coach. Woodward hired the best coaches he can get. Without a crystal ball he can’t know which ones will not work out. On paper, BK was a home run hire. Remember, the other candidates were Mel Tucker and Napier and Lincoln Riley…
