This was added to AppleTV last week. All five episodes are available to stream.

I may have to check this out. But damn, five episodes seems extreme.

I would watch a 5 hour documentary about the making of Goodfellas alone

it’s crazy that The Band is directing.

Scorsese directed The Last Waltz, so there is a connection…

His first job was editing the Woodstock movie - which is a classic if you appreciate that era of music.

It’s a joke about the Last Waltz.

We're three episodes in and this is surprisingly good.

1) No padding so far. The first episode is all pre-Mean-Streets and extremely interesting and entertaining.
2) De Niro is the most real that I've seen him in decades. You can tell he sincerely loves Scorsese and his old neighborhood.
3) I was correct to hate on Robbie Robertson. Scorsese was one of the best things to happen to The Band, Robertson was one of the worst things to happen to Scorsese.

I finished it last night and it could have easily been 1-2 episodes longer.

Agreed. Could’ve seen twice as much about the Goodfellas/Casino era.

I believe it's still on HBO Max but there's also a documentary Scorsese made of his parents and his life growing up, really cool as well.

Not a documentary but The Offer is a miniseries on Apple TV based on the making of The Godfather. It's really good.
