What am I not understanding about Kelly not being a culture fit?

I have never understood that, yet everybody keeps saying it. The only culture we care about is winning football. Ed Orgeron was quite literally "one of us" and we couldn't wait for him to hit the bricks when he stopped winning.

The only thing I don't like about Kelly's approach is that his teams aren't physical enough. I really could give a shite about anything about him if he is winning football games. He could have high tea and a prayer rug in his office if he would just win at about a 90% clip.

It might not be, but I have seen 3 social media posts this morning spouting the same thing and I have never understood it.

his teams are soft and dont win. Thats the only culture that matters.

if he came down here and went 15-0 or whatever with JD, no one would ever give a shite that hes a yankee or anything like that

Then he would have been a culture fit when he was hired. If he wasn't, there were only 3 other coaches that would be.

That isn’t happening and he doesn’t seem concerned. That’s why it isn’t a good fit. This isn’t hard.

Kelly is a tired old man.10 years too late in getting him. He served his purpose for the first two years. I thank him for putting out the beyond dumpster fire O started. But now he has outlived his use here. He’s a stubborn old man who decides to lose games on his terms. Plus he kept Sloan this year who got fooled by a 17 year old kid.

Kelly thinks he came here to save us, but the fanbase, rightfully, thinks LSU always offered him more than he offered LSU. That’s why he left ND to come here.

He has not communicated anything in a way that reflects that since the alignment talk in his first PC. He “fit” fine when he was hired, but he forgot LSU is the star of this show sometime shortly after he got here. That’s the disconnect.

He’s here to capitalize on the LSU brand and history of success, but he acts and talks like he’s trying to fix a fundamentally broken thing. Maybe it was that screwed up when he showed up, but it’s hard to sell that to a fanbase when they watched a natty 4 years before you were hired. His tone and message just lacks a basic understanding of the expectations and experiences of the fanbase.

Unlike his successful predecessors, he has absolutely no history of coaching south of the Mason Dixon line, ever as a coach. By that, he has never been on a team in the south and that is what most people are referring to. Add in his behavior at the press conference and you get it.

People that kept calling O one of us that ignored his BS that LSU was his dream job after he said the same about SC when they were considering him for head coach we’re always idiots.

Saban defined his culture. Dabo, Kirby and Heipel define the culture at each man’s respective program. He is not a culture fit only if his culture results in not being elite because LSU expects to be elite

Come on guys, he’s from Massachusetts and played 2 years as LB at Assumption College.

If that’s not a big time recipe, what is?

You’re overthinking it my man. Culture fit is one of those things that gets thrown out there when a coach’s message doesn’t seem to be landing, resulting in not winning football games. He’s said as much in his PCs. He thinks he has a good plan every game but something doesn’t click with the players, despite that they’re generally pretty talented. People would say shite like the language of ball is universal if it was working, and none of us would think much of it.

The culture thing is literally about him being from the north. Kelly has had this “I am better than yall” attitude since he came here, which is the problem.

I honestly don’t think he understood how much fans care about LSU football when he took this job and expected fans to be okay with 9/10 win seasons like he did at Notre Dame.

You answered your own question... thats where it starts. Win, lose, or draw... LSU has ALWAYS been a physical team prior to him getting here. Les Miles won a lot of games on that aspect alone. It sure wasnt about his scheme.

Dude. He’s NOT a winner. At Notre dame he never won a big game. We were glad to get rid of him. He’s a poser. Offload him now.
