Next Coaching Search

We cannot pay an older, established coach guaranteed money on an extended contract. It’s treated like a retirement fund and they coast to mediocracy. That’s proven to not work in BK and Jimbo (even though Jimbo is a bit younger than BK).
The problem with paying these older coaches crazy guaranteed money is that there is no incentive to win.
My opinion is we need a younger, energetic, exciting coach who is hungry to win.
There are no coaches who are proven winners outside of a select few and BK was one of those before he came to LSU even though he never won a natty - he had the record. He’s just old as hell, is an a-hole, and is way in over his head apparently.
Get someone from the SEC who knows the culture and the south.
My first call would be to Dan Lanning but if he says no, hire Lane Kiffin. He would do great here.

Woody is in charge. Overpaid dinosaur incoming……

Woodward’s #1 guy would be James Franklin.

Probably and that would be a disaster. Just like Urban Meyer would be too.

Unfortunately, the market has changed.
It’s guaranteed money that causes the race to mediocrity.
The exuberance to get the guy you want is exploited by agents. Right now, kind of like NIL, the market rewards failure by throwing money at potential and not performance/merit.

Why is this posted by a faggie flair?

I know for a fact that Kiffen was on Campus with Woodward the day before Kelly was announced. I saw the picture that was sent to a friend by someone on Campus and took the pic. My guess is that an agreement was already in place with Kelly and Kiffen was the contingency? I say we make him an offer that he cannot refuse.....

I’m pretty clearly not a Faggie. I changed my logo to them to troll them on the SECR since they play such a cake schedule.

Treat it like a home search.
Set criteria:
Under 55
Winning pct of .600 or better
Currently Employed
That actually narrows it down quite well
Lane Kiffin - Ole Miss
Kalani Sitake - BYU
Jason Candle - Toledo
Dan Mullen - UNLV
Luke Fickell - Wisconsin
Jeff Brohm - Louisville
Steve Sarkisian - Texas
Dave Doeren - NC State
Mike Norvell - FSU
Scott Silverfield - Memphis
Matt Campbell - ISU
Eliminate the obvious ones - Sark isn't leaving Texas for LSU. Sitake is happy at BYU. Campbell is happy at ISU. Mullen had his shot in the SEC. Fickell is not leaving for any job other than OSU.
So:
Lane Kiffin - Ole Miss
Jason Candle - Toledo
Jeff Brohm - Louisville
Dave Doeren - NC State
Mike Norvell - FSU
Scott Silverfield - Memphis
The obvious answer is Lane.
I like Silverfield.
EDIT: Had Fickell listed as Cincy HC I'm living in 2020

Ya'll need to reset your expectations and realize we aren't getting some huge name whenever we are done with Brian Kelly and will have to do what A&M did and hire a guy like Elko at a well below market rate and hope it works out.

Nice list and even better conclusion

God please no.
I wonder who would fall into this category. Someone with a Winning pct over 650 who seems not completely satisfied with their current position. Age obviously not a factor.
That's like 2 people.
Dabo and Wittingham?
I'm genuinely not sure other than that.
You aren't pulling Lanning, forget it. Day, no. Kirby, LOL.
You have to get a young hungry dude at value.

Lanning has it too good in Oregon. Has an easier path being in the Big 10.you only have to get your team ready 2 or 3 times a year. Then youre in the Playoffs if youre 10-2.

Folks with teams currently in the top 25 who don't pop up on lists due to tenure:
Joey McGuire - Texas Tech
22 - 8-5
23 - 7-6
24 - 8-5
25 - 6-1
Not bad
Eli Drinkwitz
Overall record 44-25. Folks here would hate it because he looks like a nerd.
Kenny Dillingham has an overall record of 19-13, but 2023 he took over ASU and went 3-9. 2024 was 11-3, 2025 is currently 5-2. He does have Sam Leavitt to fall on and a great WR, so take that FWIW.

I think Brohm would be solid. Tech coach is winning with NIL money right now, he would be bad in the SEC

Ball coach from Tulane. Has won every stop he's been. He's young, energetic, fiery, and gets the culture locally.
Posted on 10/19/25 at 7:50 am to Odysseus32
Kiffin isn’t leaving OM for LSU.
Brohm is not leaving Louisville.
This would be a wild ride until a hire is made. Who would lead the search, no way Woodward deserves the responsibility. But there’s no LSU president in place.
Offseason would be fun next year. But I’m ready for the change.

The good thing about shitcanning BK is that the players won’t care. Not a single one came to LSU because of the coach. It was all $$ or home state loyalty for this group.
Maybe we can keep some of the better ones for the new coach and ease the transition.
Gotta do it soon though or the lame duck coach will be used in recruiting against us.
