Next LSU HC Candidates

Who are some realistic names to throw around for our next HC? Also guys you think would genuinely be successful here? After BK, I think a lot of our minds are on younger, innovative type of coaches.
Jon Sumrall HC Tulane
Lane Kiffin HC Ole Miss
Kenny Dillingham HC Arizona St.
Rhett Lashlee HC SMU
Brent Key HC Georgia Tech
Brian Hartline OC Ohio St.
Joey McGuire HC Texas Tech
Will Stein OC Oregon
Glenn Schuman DC Georgia
Eli Drinkwitz HC Missouri
Dan Mullen HC UNLV
Alex Golesh HC USF
I realize this is a huge variety. Guys that are still coordinators, Group of 5 coaches, Power 4 coaches including some in conference, a guy like Mullen who has been around the block (wouldn’t realistically want him) but he’s performing. Who makes the most sense?
I’m tempted to just say Sumrall, but you never know about that step up from Group of 5. Coordinators are risky, but it worked out for Georgia, and Oregon. I think everybody on this list is also a realistic option. Dillingham being the toughest grab in my eyes.
What say y’all when the time comes? BK is finished here sooner or later.

It's going to be kiffin if he doesn't go to UF

The Hunchback Mullen is on the list??? Lol. He had talent at Florida and could not do anything with it.
Lane is not coming to LSU.
BK is not getting fired this year. He will have at least one more year. Offensive changes will happen first.

I think Dillingham and Key are locked in forever at their current jobs.
Hartline is intriguing, only 38 and is one of the best in the game at developing WRs. Definitely one of the best play callers in the country too.

He’s got max 1 more year here after 2025, if he doesn’t right the ship. Our roster outlook for next season looks no better than this year’s without a major overhaul. We just had a major overhaul for 2025, and here LSU is still standing around with their hands in their pants. BK is done here. It will happen eventually.

Like I said Mullen wouldn’t be a good hire to me, just throwing out options.
Kiffin would consider LSU a dream job. Ole Miss can’t do shite, if LSU comes calling.

I hope defensive will happen too when you blitz a short no arm qb all day so he can beat you with his legs instead of sitting back and containing. What a complete fricking failure. Totally.

He would choose Florida over LSU. Also Florida will have an opening before LSU anyway. So this is moot.

BK needs to step down after week 12.
Bow out gracefully. He will save part of his “goodwill” here.
We have to beat UF to Lane. UF moves slow but they will get him eventually

Remind me of that when next weekend LSU campus is nothing but liberals screaming racism and the stadium 1/4 full. And I also can see Woodard being fire too. You can’t throw $100 million out the window and there not be consequences

Who on the defensive side would you fire? Baker? Raymond? Kyle Williams?

People keep saying this. Give me a reason why he wouldn't. What has he been able to win at Ole Miss? Nothing.
But not because hes not a good coach. Hes already the 3rd winningest coach in their history. Its because its Ole fricking Miss. They dont have the same resources LSU does and arent the brand LSU is. I think he would absolutely come here and would crush it if he did.

I'm hoping for a miracle and that somehow he bows out and come to some agreement on the buyout
Posted on 10/18/25 at 11:26 pm to cajuntiger1010
this is not happening

This is probably more than a year away. I’m not torturing myself when I know we are bringing this whole thing back next year. After that I’ll think about a replacement.

Likely too big a gamble bringing on someone with no HC experience.
Dillingham should be at the top of the list. I like Golesh as well. Young, hungry, up and coming, bright offensive minds.
