1. Never knew this field had a name.

2. My crew and I tailgated here for years when we were in school and it was an incredibly quiet part of campus with tailgates pretty spread out. 2012-2017.

The only incidence we ever had was homecoming in 2014 we got chased off by some sororities and fraternities who basically toppled over our stuff. We didn’t make a big fuss and moved over next to the lake on south stadium. Liked that spot so much we tailgated there until we all graduated in 2017.

From 2012-2017 except for homecoming, I never remember the corner of south stadium and highland being as wild as it’s being described on this forum. What happened? I moved and haven’t been to a home game since 2021 so I don’t know the general vibe on campus anymore.

I can say that I saw a steady decline in tailgating mostly due to paid areas as well as more paid parking. But if anything it toned things down. Not made them crazier.

So again? What happened that made that corner a wild place with shootings and drama?

Drove by unity field on Sunday morning.. looked like a nuke went off and turned it into a landfill. I felt bad for the people that had to clean that mess up

Started after the Southern Game. I don't know who specifically caused all of this but a black fraternity or 2 and whoever else have been attracting very large numbers of undesirable "young" people to that location with no affiliation to LSU looking to cause trouble.

If woke Woody feels the need to play Southern again, just move the game to the Superdome. We’ve lost much more than whatever goodwill came from this game.

Honestly, the only game I've attended in Lafayette that had fights was when we played Southern. I'm sure there were others, but these were big brawls and very obvious.

More like they probably didn't think they'd be welcomed on campus...once they were, the floodgates opened. People in Louisiana and especially LSU fans are very nice and accomodating.

At the press conference he clearly made a statement when he said “this is ours, not yours”.

Kinda like the great restaurant you go to where its quiet, no wait and no hassle. Once its found out, you can forget about it. Packed with a different crowd and you wonder how the place was found out. Weird

Just another example of how a small number of individuals can ruin the experience for everyone else. First LSU is forced to close the Student Union on gamedays because of unruly behavior by "youths" and now what was once a quiet and shady corner for tailgaters has been taken away because one particular demographic just can't act like civilized human beings.

Apparently it’s the grass field on the northeast quadrant of south stadium and highland. Near the edge of campus lake.
