All, considering taking the family to the DFW area around Christmas time. My daughters are big into the American Girl Doll stuff and I know there is a huge store there....was going to let this be some sort of "Christmas Gift Trip". Personally, I always like staying on water, so I was considering renting an AirBNB/VRBO on one of the lakes around that area. I am OK to drive an hour from said place of stay to the Dallas/American Girl Store place. Looking for other cool recommendations on things to do around that area that time of the year. The other part of the gift is that my girls are young and have never flown, so considering putting my wife and kids on a plane for that experience and me driving up separately so I have a car and carseats to tag around town once they arrive. It's about a 5 hour drive for me but only about 1:15 min flight from LFT. TIA

Kids that age would love Great Wolf Lodge with it's indoor water park.

The store is near Northpark Mall which is an upscale mall that has all sorts of Christmas events so look at their website.

All three of these are close to Northpark and The American Doll Store. Nothing super fancy or exciting, but close.

Hyatt House Lincoln Park

Doubletree Campbell Centre

Hilton Park Cities

The Gaylord Texan is awesome at Christmas time and sits on Lake Grapevine. It will be pricey. Right by D/FW. 30-45 minute drive to AG Store depending on traffic.

The Gaylord is a mile from the Great Wolf. There is plenty to do within a 10 minute ride of either.

The Gaylord also has a "frozen-ish" resort set up in their conference rooms in the winter that's called ICE!, where they have ice sculptures and slides that will take you an hour to walk through. They give you puffy jackets (I was wearing shorts, because I'm not a bitch) and it's great for kids. The aquarium is 10m away.

It's a good start, just give them gum or something for the pressure changes on the flight. Get them international next year. Apply for passports now.

Did this last year for Thanksgiving time and stayed at the Gaylord for ICE
I think this year in Dallas the theme is Elf.

It was a great time and the kids loved it. You can tour the ice sculptures but also there is indoor tube ice sliding, ice skating, and all kinds of things to spend money on. The Gaylord is huge with restaurants and a scavenger hunt for the kids. It does get very crowded and the valet parking in and out can be a pain, but very Christmas-y.

It takes about 40ish minutes pending traffic from Grapevine to get to the American Girl Store. My daughter and even son really liked the tea experience. They actually give you a good amount of food that isn't terrible. You can also book a salon experience for the doll if you so choose.

Your kids will have a great time regardless

Snowday and Santaland at the Galleria. I did this with my family last year. Also, Meow Wolf at the Grapevine Mall. Also downtown Grapevine goes all out on Christmas. I'd suggest walking down main street there. Great Wolf or The Gaylord would be a great place for kids to stay. Do something for yourself and go to Scheels at Grandscape in The Colony.

My wife took my daughter on a day trip to do this last year. Flew to DFW in the morning and flew back that night.
