I heard this on the radio this morning and thought "holy frick"

The took a look at their Schedule. Only two SEC games so far, vs Bama (14 points) and USCe (31 points).

The other games are Charleston Southern, Va Tech, Georgia Southern, Utah State. Got to give them credit for being smart about this scheduling

Helps to score 70 against GA State

Even the great LSU offense scored 56 against a bad team

Like LSU against South Carolina, Vandy had two redzone turnovers against Bama. Granted, they were not on the level of a fumble on the half yard line.

On the flip side, they had 323 yards against South Carolina. Decent but not overwhelming. That game got out of hand when Sellers went out (missed the second half), and 4 South Carolina turnovers. Vandy's two scoring drives in the second half were 18 and 37 yards.

Just to be clear...I think Vandy is good, probably should be favored in this game at home, and LSU will have to be a much better team than they have been to win.

Decided to go look for fun at our other opponents outside of our game in SEC play:

Florida 23 PPG (10 vs LSU)
South Carolina 21 PPG (10 vs LSU)
Ole Miss 35 (vs Kentucky and Arkansas, to be fair) PPG (24 vs LSU)

I'm guessing Vanderbilt will score 17. Give me LSU 20-17.

Points scored and scoring defense rank by opponent

45 Charleston Southern (FCS) N/A
44 Va Tech #104
31 South Carolina #32
70 Ga State #135 (they're second to last in the country in scoring defense and 1-5, they're terrible)
55 Utah State #125
14 Alabama #22

So against the two decent defenses they've played, they scored 31 and 14 points. In the South Carolina game, they still only had 323 yards of total offense. South Carolina had 4 turnovers. I think Vandy's offense is very overrated just like it was the first half of last season. Remember how terrible our defense was last year. Well, Pavia and Vandy struggled to move the ball against those guys.

I’ve watched them a bit. They have some good athletes that historically would not be on a Vanderbilt roster.

Eh, they also didn't score in the second half and only had 333 yards of offense with 65 of those yards being on one play on their first drive of the game. Pavia really struggled to throw the ball down field. He only completed 3 passes for more than 10 yards

F it!!!
We are not losing to Vandy!!! Don't care what their stats are. Pavia is good. But, I think our D contains him and their offense to less than 17.

Have we scored 43 points the entire season? Sure doesn’t feel like we have?

Yeah Vandy is good. And that is going to continue to happen in this era, where the Vandy's and SMUs can attract talent looking to get paid and play instead of being the 5th guy on Bama.

Vandy is good for Vandy. They haven't played the meat of their schedule yet. Outside the Alabama game, their opponents have been bad, like really bad. Without a decently good QB, Vandy is as bad as the normal Vandy. He won't be back next year, and they'll be Vandy bad again. They honestly got a very favorable schedule this season.

But as of now, their 5 wins are against an FCS team, 3-3 USC, 1-5 Ga State, 3-3 Utah St, and 2-5 Va Tech

True. But it is just a matter of time until our offense clicks. Maybe its this week we cash in on the opportunities.

The score may have been lopsided once Sellers got knocked out, but USC actually outgained them in that game. That greatly skews this number, especially considering that Bama put them to sleep in the 2nd half of that one.

Outside of Pavia, none are on the level of what Ole Miss has at RB and WR, and that is the only offense to really stress our defense so far this season.
