Sounds like JJ's mom lives in California and with his dad leaving to coach at Miami (OH) that probably opened the door for him to go out of state. He'll actually be closer to his dad at UT than if he'd stayed here.

I'm guessing that if his dad had stayed at Barbe he'd still be going to LSU.

It seems as thought the questionable character in all of this was his dad as much as JJ.

Whatever.

it's been covered many of times.

O got him a job at Miami (OH). To be honest with you, after his coaching job at McNeese this past year, I clearly have no other idea as to how he got a D-I job.

Good thing...JJ would have trouble finding employment in this state.

Did you hear Jimmy Shaver's quote? "when JJ made the announcement, the whole place got Quiet...no cheering...nothing"...

This bridge has been burned

I'm still confused how Mike Haywood got a head coaching job. For all the talk about minorities not receiving enough consideration for head coaching jobs in college football, Mike Haywood can thank his minority status as to why he is a head coach in college football. I like Mike Haywood and he was a nice guy while at LSU but he was nothing but a recruiting guy and position coach throughout his career and when given more responsibilities than that at Notre Dame he simply didn't produce.

I DOUBT JJ OR HIS DAD, LANCE WOULD EVER READ THIS, BUT THESE GUYS HAVE NO HONOR OR LOYALITY AT ALL. THEY HAVE BOTH SAID ALL ALONG THAT IT WAS LSU ALL THE WAY. LANCE SHOULD UNDERSTAND THIS MORE THAN ANYONE BUT HE WAS A COACH AT MCNEESE AND DID RECRUITING FOR THEM. HE TOLD A FEW OF US PERSONALLY THAT HIS SON WAS VERY SOLID TO LSU. IF YOU ARE NOT SOLID TO A SCHOOL TELL THEM SO THEY CAN START LOOKING AROUND. HE AND HIS DAD SHOWED NO CLASS WHAT-SO-EVER! PEOPLE IN LAKE CHARLES ARE DISGUSTED BY THIS, BUT IF TAHT IS WHAT THIS KID IS ALL ABOUT, WELL THEN AT LEAST WE ARE FINDING OUT NOW. TIGER FANS, LETS ALL MOVE ON AND CONCENTRATE ON THE COMMITS THAT HONORED THEIR WORD AND WANT TO REPRESENT OUR STATE, NOT THE JJ'S OF THE WORLD.

P.S. JJ IF YOU HAPPEN TO READ TIGERDROPPINGS AND GET THIS: DON'T COME HOBBLING BACK TO LOUISIANA AFTER YOU REINJURE THAT WEAK KNEE. THERE IS NOTHING FOR SELLOUTS OVER HERE!!!!

I may be naive and missing something. The players' name is Jackson. The father's name is Guidry. What am I missing? a + b = C unless there is something that i don't get.

I also don't get the big fuss. Let the kid go and good luck to him. Just becasue he played HS ball in La, he is not locked into LSU. If we stood by this, Montgomery would be playing for Spurrier

Haywood isn't even worthy of being a coordinator. Haywood was a good RB coach here and good recruiter, but still not hc material. Him going to Miami of Ohio is the near equivalent to us pawning off bdp to NWST

I know I am locked in the 70's but why would you take your mother's name and not your fathers? Obviuosly his father hasn't passed or anything like that

In fact since his mother is in Califronia didn't he live with his father? God who's married to whom these days.

HIS BIOLOGICAL FAHTER IS LANCE GUIDRY, WHO COACHED AT MCNEESE AND NOW MIAMI OF OHIO. LANCE AND JJ'S DAD WERE NOT MARRIED WHEN LANCE WAS BORN, SO FOR SOME REASON HE KEPT THE MOM'S NAME. NOT SURE WHY HE NEVER SHANGED IT TO GUIDRY, BECAUSE HE AND DAD SEEM VERY CLOSE.

It's not the child's choice (until he becomes an adult and can legally change his name). If the parents aren't married, the mother chooses the name. I have no idea if they are married or not -- just saying.

Also, I spoke to someone last night who was in the room at Barbe when he announced and he said the same thing as Shaver -- nobody said a word. He said it was really awkaward, like somebody farted or something.

Fond of the CAPS key, are ya?

Patrick Johnson/Peterson changed his name last year once his mother finally married his biological father. This is not hard to figure out. I think the fact that Guidry is white is throwing everyone off. His parents are not married. It's that simple.

was JJ's mom even at the announcement yesterday? Take this FWIW, but a friend told me one of the reasons JJ didn't come to LSu was LSU apparently reached out to his mom in Cali to help recruit or something like that. Was told he realy doesn't have a relationship with her. like i said im just repeating what i was told, have no idea if its true
