Old Tulane Stadium Recreation Project

Hey guys I am looking for information about the old Tulane Stadium on Willow Street for a project I am working on. I have built a complete 3d model of the stadium and posted walkthrough tours on youtube to share it with others. I'm looking for feedback on things I need to adjust as well as information about some of the details on the place that I am fuzzy on.
If anyone wants a specific image or has suggestions or comments post them.. I really want more feedback.

NORTH GRANDSTAND MORE DETAILED
Added pay phones and accessories. Added lots of signage.
EAST GRANDSTANDS - WALKING TOUR - OLD TULANE STADIUM
Lastest cleaned up eastern core with improved lighting
EAST GRANDSTAND RAMP PLATFORMS
Cleaned up more railings and think its finally starting to look right.
EAST GRANDSTAND LOCKER ROOM HALL
This one is located behind the ramps. Not sure if the public could access it. Preparing for the locker rooms.
SOUTH SIDE OVERVIEW
A nice overview from a nearby tower.
If anyone wants a specific image or has suggestions or comments post them.. I really want more feedback.

Great job but it looks too clean. You should scatter some virtual mud, dust and rain puddles around.
I saw lots of great games in that stadium.
The most intense night was a miserable one for me - December 1, 1973.
On New Years Eve 1973 I was at the greatest game I ever attended that LSU was not playing in - Noter Dame over Alabama for the national championship.
1st Saints game. John Gilliam received the kickoff right in front of me in the south end zone.
I was there for Dempsey's kick.
I miss the place.
I saw lots of great games in that stadium.
The most intense night was a miserable one for me - December 1, 1973.

I agree with you... I have been slowly adding more mud and dirt as I do more research. By 1975 it was a beaten down old place..
There was surprising amount of unpaved areas under the stands.
Do you recall where the stadium club stairs and locker rooms were? I have been trying to figure these out for a while?

Wow! Some great memories. Can't really offer anything more other than what you already captured. If you go into micro details, they used to sell beer in the cans, but had to quit when fans started to hurl partially full cans at the refs leaving the field. Then they had guys walking through the stands with huge plastic back kegs and they would use an attached hose to fill cups of beer as ordered. Had to stop that because when the vendors would turn to the side the back keg would hit the person in the face that was sitting on the other side of the aisle - led to a few fights breaking out in the stands.

I would have much prefered to see it in daylight.

Here's what the beer backpacks looked like:
There were 2 large hook shaped shoulder pieces with white foam pads that supported the backpack.

thanks for the images.. I'll have to make these. As for daylight.. I'l be adding one as well.. My initial vibe was that of sneaking in when it was closed. Any idea what size these were for scale?

Here's another image:
The steel pieces are where the shoulder supports were connected, so that would be shoulder width. The pads on the hooks looked similar to the foam pad at the bottom.

Brings back memories. I used to love buying pennants from the vendors especially for the Tulane games when you could buy a pennant from nearly any school in the country.

By the way, there were 3 beer vendors at the Saints games. Dixie, Jax and Falstaff, if I remember correctly. One for the east side, one for the west and one for the endzones. They would rotate sections each game.
For lagniappe, here's a picture of the cardboard container popcorn was sold in.
Here it's flat, but it came as a squared cone shape. The picture shows 2 sides. You could tear off the bottom when you finished the popcorn and it transformed into a small megaphone.

I know I have seen a Dixie Beer "garden" under the North Stands on a few places. By garden I mean a shack with a counter. lol.
You recall if there was any paving under the stands.. from what I can tell it was paved under the main metal section on the north and south.
I figure most of the concrete east and west was paved by 1975 when they played Super Bowl IX but I haven't been able to confirm it.
Do you know where the stairs where for the Westerfeldt Club were. I have figured the built out was likely on the western stands above the locker rooms but I havent pinned down the entrance.
