I've lived in a handful of cities, and each one has a well known area with restaurants, bars and shopping whereby if someone tells me they're coming to town and asks where to go, I can simply give them a street or neighborhood and know they'll enjoy themselves.

What is that area for Baton Rouge? Do we even have one?

Government Street?
Downtown?
Overpass?
Perkins Rowe?
Towne Center?

I mean, is it really this bad in Baton Rouge there is nothing for visitors to do besides get harassed at an LSU tailgate?

There are cool bars and good restaurants all over the frickin place in Baton Rouge. BR has plenty of things to complain about but not having cool bars and restaurants is not one of them.

What exactly is a ‘cool bar’? As a non drinker I don’t go to bar rooms. What makes a bar room ‘cool’? Seems like they’re pretty much all the same.

There really isn't an area like that in BR. We used to have Third Street, but Broome killed that scene.

Perkins Rowe may be your best bet.

Downtown is very nice in the daytime.

It's pretty scattered out, but if you wanted one spot, I guess Perkins Rowe is your best bet.

Nowadays I would say Perkins rowe, Town Center, Perkins overpass as general areas or "scenes". But there are a lot of good restaurants and bars spread throughout the city. And we have topgolf. BR is not as terrible as this board portrays it.

Drink selection, price and crowd are the biggest factors for me. Often times, good bars lose their appeal because they quickly become overcrowded and overpriced.

There's scattered "places" but no go-to area for non college age people. Since the average age of this board is now about 70 somehow the go-to area is your own house.
