McNeese basketball arena gets new name in multimillion-dollar deal
Never heard of these guys. Thought Baggett McCall or Cox Filo could outbid them

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - McNeese State University’s state-of-the-art basketball arena is getting a new name.
McNeese and the Townsley Law Firm have finalized the largest naming rights deal for a basketball arena in Southland Conference history, Athletics Director Heath Schroyer said. The firm will pay $4.5 million over 15 years to change the name of the complex, formerly known as the Legacy Center, to the Townsley Law Arena.
Townsley Law Firm is the largest medical malpractice firm in the state, Attorney Todd Alan Townsley said. Townsley compared the risk his firm took when taking on malpractice suits to the risk Schroyer took when bringing Will Wade to McNeese.

$300k per year seems like a steal, even if it is Wade-less McNeese.

There will be a real opportunity for Smith & Wesson to name the new $30 million sports complex if the City Council gets it's way and they build it in Goosport AKA the hood
Just look at how educated the CC President is on this matter. His articulation just oozes out
quote:
“This project has been approved by HUD on Fitzenreiter and that’s a done deal, that’s already been done,” said City Council President Craig Marks. “So when we come back with the Capital One site here’s what we risk, we have to send it back to HUD and hope that HUD will approve it. If HUD doesn’t approve it, you’ve opened a can of worms that Lake Charles can’t make up their mind.”
LINK
BTW, the location he is pushing to build it is literally in rap songs by UGK and if you Google the street, articles about dead bodies floating in the river by that street pop up
Its also very close to a large section 8 project
The rest of the CC, the mayor (who is also black), and the CEO of Visit Lake Charles want it built downtown on the lake

Indoor facility
quote:
The proposed sports facility would cover 25,000 square feet, including basketball courts, volleyball courts, pickleball courts, and more. Officials say it would be big enough to host regional events.

Sorry to hijack, but - Wasn’t that new proposed arena downtown supposed to be a big new hotel with a convention center and restaurants? Stout?

They are probably smart enough to not waste money on doing something the locals are against, just like with renaming the football stadium.
Naming a school facility after a coach, player, etc. that did great things for a program is one thing. Buying your way up there is just pathetic.

Well these days in college athletics the G6 and FCS programs have no choice but to try to chase every nickel possible just to keep a semi-competitive athletic program.

McNeese is trying to raise money to get a C-USA invite alongside Tarleton.
