But that green charger was the catalyst for the accident and subsequent injuries, and death, Hard to deny, He was a fine young man who man who made a mistake,
Blessings to those who suffered. Mr Stacy would have found the lords blessings,

I wouldn't care if Kyren never got back in his lane. The funyun bitch that swerved into oncoming traffic to "AVOID" a car passing 100 yards in front of her is the fricking troglodyte and killed that man.
How many times have yall seen someone pass in front of you with less than 100yds (an entire football field) between you, and didn't feel compelled to swerve into oncoming traffic? I rest my case...

I'm over this, but people will continue to die on the roads as long as do many people drive like insane retards. There is no meaningful traffic law enforcement.

Have you driven on that road?
He didn't kill himself, driving recklessly, for no reason.

It’s worse than that. She swerved into oncoming traffic because she was too distracted and flowing too closely to respond to the gold truck’s defensive maneuver.
That the thought of swerving to the left ever occurred to her is an indictment of her intelligence. FFS if you can’t safely swerve right just brake as hard as you can and rear-end the truck. You’d get a ticket and increased premiums, but no one would have been seriously injured.

Hey bro, go jump off a bridge

If you saw the bodycam footage you can clearly hear the man from the gold truck say he was not going fast, and did not have to slam on his breaks or anything. So, yes the person tailgating him not paying attention is at fault for sure!

He didn't kill himself driving recklessly at all. He killed himself because he had a history of mental issues. Were you aware that KL's grandfather committed suicide?
Can you imagine working your entire life towards a goal of playing in the NFL in a game you were good at and worked hard to get there?
Then the accident happens and all of your joy, dreams and expectations are ripped away. He didn't get to the combine and draft stock plummeted
Even though KL had an attorney that said he could help him, KL was surrounded by hatred that HE killed a vet, was called a murderer, a POS and worse.
You're naive if you think that the media and social media didn't contribute to his mental health and his demise.
There have been plenty of false narratives of what happened in the accident and the truth lies far from what LSP found and what the so called witnesses said. There are also truths mixed in. Stop the video and write down what witnesses say... like Funyuns saying he drove up on her. That didn't happen until after she hit the Hall vehicle. Compare statements to video.
For a moment, take out the fact that it was a No Passing Zone. When you pass someone on a 2 lane road, don't you have to accelerate and speed to pass other vehicles? If you don't speed up to pass you'd be driving side by side. Don't you normally decrease your speed by braking after you get back in your lane? KL did just that as shown in the DA video. It was called braking agressively but if you come back into your lane because of possible head on and you get back in behind a car you're in danger of rear ending you HAVE to slow down.
The ONLY thing KL did wrong was doing it in NPZ.
Then social media jumped on what happened in Houston. He had gone to Houston because of dealing with depression. He was with his aunt, cousin and brother. His mom is a school counselor and had a school function the night he killed himself. The family was keeping close eye on him and had taken his car keys. I think that they were unaware at first that he had a gun. He was demanding his car keys. The gunshot into the ground was to make a statement that if he didn't get the keys he was going to kill himself in front of them. Does this sound like a mentally healthy person? No. So he gets the car keys and leaves. Family calls 911 for wellness/welfare. Police see the green car and try to make a traffic stop. I don't have info on if it was a high speed chase as reported. What I believe to be true is that he shot himself while driving and the the car crashed into a building because he was no longer in control of it. He definitely was having a mental breakdown and thought he was going to spend a lot of time in jail.
My opinion is that he was overcharged and Funyuns was undercharged. As other posters have said, two things can be true at the same time.

I don’t know what my opinion is. Lacy definitely played a part. But I am curious why nothing is being said from LSP about the Funyun girl. Seems like distracted drive plays a part here also. But that is being ignored. This in no is to dissolve Lacy part in this. It seems like they leaving out part of the story. I still can’t get past the video of the trooper leading on the truck driver.

That’s kind of a big deal. It’s a no passing zone for a reason

I was referring to what steps he had to do to pass a vehicle on a 2 lane road

quote:Only he didn't pass "a vehicle". He passed three cars and an 18-wheeler, which is entirely different from the time, speed, and reaction time required to pass one vehicle. The gold truck driver saw a green car accelerating at an accelerating pace in his lane...he didn't know that he would brake and get back into the correct lane at the time he had to make a decision.

I've been in a few wrecks, and this all happens so fast that hindsight is always going to reveal solutions that were not apparent in real time.

I've been in an accident in the fog.
I have had someone hit me pulling away from a house on the street that I live.
I have been in a head on collision.
I got hit by someone who ran a red on my green.
I hydroplaned off I-10 and hit a tree with the frame of my car meaning my car was on its side.
Shall I go on or do you have better accidents than me in my almost 50 years of driving?

Somewhat agree.
But in perspective, if it was a deer that ran across the road making the gold truck slow down and swerve instead of lacy, and the same events happen, we probably dont hear much about this at all.
In the above scenario, the white car would ticketed which she was in real life as well(and you can argue about what offenses she should have been ticketed), but other than that, we wouldn't hear anything. Of course the white car would be at fault, but no one would be going on and on about it. Everyone would just chalk it up to accident, move on.
But lacy wasn't a deer. He was a driver who's wreckless driving actions started the above events. Yes the white car still has fault, and the white car was ticketed. But lacy shares fault as well. How much? I dont know, thats what the courts and juries would have decided.
I dont think that all of the charges would have stood. I think lacy would have gotten much less of either a sentence or fine than initial charges would have you believe. But unfortunately we'll never know.

The defense attorney did a fantastic job in getting everyone thinking in terms of yards and not seconds.

You are either a very bad driver, put yourself in very bad driving conditions, or the unluckiest person who ever lived.

I'll take #3.

You sound like the lady in the kia. You drive in a manner that if everything around you doesn't go perfect you have no way of course correcting.
There's no scenario where if the Kia driver gave the truck in front of them 2 or 3 more car lengths of space and are traveling at the same speed as the vehicle in front of them they are forced to swerve into incoming traffic and kill someone.
