Trust your gut

So this was waiting when I got home from my mom’s birthday dinner.

A @HomeDepot moving truck, and being an FFL SOT with a truck at the end of my driveway at 9pm I kept rolling by.

A driver ducks down and I pass by. Circled several times and got this pic at a distance and the tag number. Dumped my car with my dogs in it at a neighbors driveway and booked it through yards to enter my house out of view and clear it.

House was clear and I still see the truck out there. Pickup my car and dogs and circle around the block again. Finally pull up at speed and into my front yard and get the dogs inside.

Call the cops and the truck leaves. Cops arrive to take note of the situation and the truck rolls past as we are talking and he hits the blues.
Pulls the truck over which now has 2 or 3 occupants. As he walks up and gets right to the drivers side they step on it and haul arse initiating a car chase.

No word yet if they’ve been caught or what the outcome is

Update 1: bag in the road of the fleeing trucks direction had fake police vests and badges in it. Suspects and vehicle not located yet as far as I know.

For those who don't know, FFL is a Federal Firearms License. People who sell firearms need one. But there are many people who have an FFL so that they can legally be gunsmiths, or buy and sell online.

I've heard of other people with FFLs being targeted like this, especially after gun shows, where criminals will follow a dealer home and attack/rob them.

The ATF has a searchable database. Which means criminals can see who has an FFL and stake them out.

I get that they were going to pretend to be feds to gain access, but anyone with an FFL is not a soft target. Bold plan.

One thing that amazes me is that FFLs that operate out of their homes often don't even go to the bother of using a UPS mailbox as an address (or a co-working space.) There are a couple of businesses registered to people's home addresses in my neighborhood, and at least one of them appears to have an FFL and be a dealer.

That’s exactly why I’ve never used my home address for FFL paperwork. Too many people can pull that info. It’s not paranoia if folks are actually out here planning hits.

Update 2: waiting to hear more from the sheriffs office. For everyone asking about the cops not catching the truck. He didn’t really push it to give chase it seems, they had the truck info and he updated it to the traffic cam systems using that method to try and locate where they were going. I cannot say I blame him since he was a young officer and by himself.

The perps probably are the ATF, no need to query their database looking for themselves when they blame John Q Republican for robbing this guy over gun lust

The form to change an address, inexplicably, allows you to list a "residential" location where you will do business as a hotel, apartment, public housing, as residential addresses. The "commercial" selections include "office," which a shared space at a co working space would qualify as.

The people that do this in my old hood are living in 500k+ houses and should know better than to put their families at risk instead of spending $50 an hour to rent a conference room at a workspace to do the sale/exchange.

People that own fully automatic weapons are required to have a certain your of FFL. Might not be an actual dealer.
