We really didn’t appreciate that man when he was here. His ability to move and throw is unbelievable. We can no longer have statues in this version of college ball… have to have people that can do both

Top NFL and college teams have mobile athletic QBs. Your RBs look a lot better when defenses have to worry about QB running. It may not be sufficient but it is necessary.

Insane that lsu not only failed to get hardware while he was here, they didn’t even make the playoff

Bad nfl teams and bad college teams also have mobile qbs

Yeah a lot of people didn't appreciate him at all. But that's typical of our fan base, sadly.

He was so electric. No offense to Mr. Burrow but Jayden was absolutely electric. Every time he had the ball he was a threat to score. One of a kind.

Tom Brady says hello. Some of the worst QBs are “mobile”

you probably wanted to bench him for Nuss like the rest of the fanbase did lol

If you think about it, LSU is the only SEC team with a statue at QB.

QB position in college is vastly different than NFL now.

I enjoyed watching people melt bc they wanted Nuss to play over him.

We? Nah some of us saw his potential from the beginning

College football is a 3 to 4 year stint, Daniels was appreciated and 2023 was a great season.
Missed the playoffs

Painting with way too broad a brush ("the rest of the fanbase").
But let's rewind for some context. Jayden had already started 29 games across three seasons at ASU. Apart from Covid, '22 would've been his senior season. Would Jayden have been drafted at all after '22? Our offense spit-n-sputtered off-n-on much of '22. In his 39th start, he was 8-15-1 for 86 yds and rushed 19x for net 10 yds.
In start #41, he was 21-35-0 for 189 yds and no TDs. Ran it 12X for net 84 yds. Ugly loss to A&M. The concern with Jayden in '22 was that he was too tentative in his decision making to avoid ints.
In the '22 SECCG, Nuss looked pretty %$#& good. His arm strength was on a different level than Jayden's and making throws that didn't even look real.
Now on to '23, in our first game we get blown out by FSU. Jayden didn't play bad; but neither was he dynamic. That was start # 44. Nobody was thinking Heisman. Had someone suggested as much then, they would've been dismissed as drunk.
So if some fans concluded that's who Jayden is after 44 starts and maybe it's time to let someone else have a chance, was it all unfounded?
In Jayden's 4th season as a starter, he passed at 69% for 2,913 yds, 17 TDs and only 3 ints. He rushed for 885 yds and 11 TDs. So 3,798 yds and 28 TDs.
In Nuss's 4th season but 1st as a starter, he passed at 64% for 4,052 yds, 29 TDs, and 12 ints. He lost 38 yds rushing but did score 3 TDs. So 4,014 total yds and 32 TDs.
But at some point in '23, it all came together for Jayden like nothing I had ever seen before. Completed 72% of his passes,3,812 yds, 40 TDs vs only 4 ints. Rushed for 1,134 yds and 10 more TDs. Let's add it up: 4,946 yds. 50 TDs. And that's with no post-season #s.
When watching Jayden play down the stretch of '23, I thought to myself I'm watching "QB perfection." I never even thought that even about Burrow.

Seriously? I looked forward to watching Jayden every week and have to believe all my fellow LSU fanatics did as well. I refuse to believe otherwise. Yes, we were all very irritated with the sorry arse defense, but JD helped us enjoy LSU Football despite that.
