I've watched several videos of people breaking down film on LSU.

One thing that jumps out at me is how screwed up the route trees are. Way too often we have multiple receivers running routes at the same level or in the same general area (within 5 yards of each other).

Sloan apparently doesn't know how to create space with the routes on pass plays or the receivers don't know the routes to run. Things get jumbled up and receivers can't get open because they can't get out of each other's way.

Regardless, it's on Sloan to fix it since he's the OC.

I don't remember ever having this problem in 2019 or when JD5 was QB. It's a hot mess.

He’s been a bad offensive coordinator since he started. He’s in over his head and should be let go at the end of the year.

We can’t keep wasting seasons with someone who has no clue how to design a running game

He horrible. No excuse for LSU not to have hired a proven OC.

what I've noticed is most of the play designs are good. But the receivers aren't running the routes with purpose at times. Ex. the first 3rd down, you have double slants and I believe its Green running a clearout route and he appears to be dragging arse getting up field.

Exactly. Everybody can see it except for our head coach. It’s gonna take a 7-5 season before he makes a change. A repeating pattern with this guy.

The question in my mind is how much of it is Sloan vs Sloan being shackled by the offense Kelly demands that they run. Probably some of both.

On the interception in particular against Ole Miss in the redzone , you had a levels concept. It was either designed poorly or executed poorly. The intended receiver’s route was too deep in my opinion which made the play easier to make for the secondary. We had two receivers within a 5 yard radius which is asking for trouble against 8 in coverage.

Also, difference between Nuss this year and last year, Nuss had the deep lWR coming open on that particular play. Last year he is going there and not the under.

It wasn’t levels. It was dagger. And the ball should have gone to Parker on the deep crosser

I’ve wondered if he was actually trying to hit the deep WR who looked like he had a step on the DB but it just another horribly underthrown pass

The offense ineptitude is a team effort.
Sloan definitely deserves the criticism, as does David and the OL, but so does Nuss and so do the receivers.
Green is a huge talent but he makes little effort to block and loafs on routes when he is not primary. Our WR routes are imprecise and, as others noted, are often bunched up.
TE blocking is poor.
Lots of folks contributing to failure here, but Sloan and BK are ultimately responsible.

I don’t think that was the case because it would have been a major under throw

Dude got demoted at Lousiana Tech. Hiring him as the OC in the SEC was never going to work

Part of me wonders if LSU is trying to make the offense TOO complicated and, in the process, is getting everyone confused. No OC, even weak ones, are calling plays to get two WRs in the same spot for a pass. Every game, nearly every snap, Nussmeier is doing a LOT of talking at the LOS. More than most college QBs. Maybe in trying to get to the "perfect" play on every snap, LSU is more often than not creating confusion, causing hesitation.

There have been open recievers - even against 8 man coverage at Ole Miss. Not saying this has been on every pass play, but there have been open recievers a decent amount of time that Nuss has either not seen or been unable to pull the trigger and get the ball to. Also not saying that Sloan is a great OC, because he clearly is not - but I think the problem starts with Davis and the OL - Davis has never been anything other than a good recruiter.

It’s sad bc we cannot get the entire page on the same team for success. One unit thrives, the other is completely unserviceable. That’s my knock on Kelly…

Bill Belichick was fired by the Cleveland Browns in 1996. He ended up being a pretty good NFL HC. (Not a direct comparison, I am not comparing Sloan to him).

People grow and learn and improve, Sloan was a great QB coach for us and after Denbrock it didn’t make much since to shake things up too much after have a generational offense and Heisman QB. Sloan made sense at the time but time is showing he hasn’t improved as a play caller or play designer.

The main knock on Sloan in my opinion is his opening sequences. Those should be scripted - first drive or first couple of drives. The offense has the advantage because the defense has not had time to adjust. In 5 games, the LSU offense has failed horribly in these situations. One long run by Durham with some broken tackles and a field reversal against Clemson. A pick against LA Tech on a terribly thrown ball. And 3 and outs the rest of the way.

A total of 57 yards rushing. He flunks on both issues.

Was he a great QB coach? Or did Jayden make him look like one with his own work to improve
