I have been doing woodworking as a hobby now since early 2000s. The last 12 years I have been on hiatus as my 2 boys were younger and making sure I attended their events. Now both are in college and I am getting back into the shop. I got into the hobby when I lived in B'ham area for 6 years which had a Woodcraft to get most of the things I needed.

I need to get some new bandsaw blades. I have a 14" Jet with 6" riser which the blades need to be 105". I can easily order some blades from the internet but wanted to see where others got their bandsaw blades locally. In the Baton Rouge area. Don't mind if I have to drive to Hammond.

Service Lumber might have that.

Here's a good source for sources https://www.brwoodworkers.com/links/

I appreciate the information. Woodcraft was always somewhat pricey but it came through in a pinch since it was only a couple miles from my house in Alabama.

PMC in Hammond is a bright spot in an otherwise miserable state to be a woodworking hobbyist

I'd just order online unless you need it immediately. BR and the surrounding area are terrible when it comes to woodworking tools/supplies.
PMC is definitely the closest thing we have to a Woodcraft or Rockler, but if you're used to going into a Woodcraft store you'll probably find it underwhelming.
I would take the time to check out Service Lumber and Brazos, they have a small selection of tools/supplies and it's worth getting familiar with what they stock if you're getting back into the hobby.

PMC, as mentioned, is a well-stocked woodworking store that almost seems out of place for LA. It has more of a commercial feel than Woodcraft and Rockler, which are definitely aimed toward the hobbyist. I think they have more router bits and shaper cutters than any WWing shop I have ever been into and I have probably been in 80% of the ones in the US, not an exaggeration.

I haven't bought any bandsaw blades from PMC but if they don't weld them there, unlikely but possible, pre-packaged bandsaw blades are always outrageously expensive.

I have ordered bandsaw blades for over 15 years from Spectrum Supply, they weld their own from Lenox bandstock. They are an industrial supply house in Ohio and MA. Not super cost effective for a single blade. Their online presense is bandsawoutlet.com For a 14" Delta cast clone you are looking at their Flexback stock if you want carbon blades and Diemaster 2 if you want bi-metal blades. If you plan to do any resawing there is one blade that stands out for those small cast saws and that is the Woodslicer from Highland Woodworking in Atlanta (great shop if you are ever there). Spectrum used to sell bladestock called the Kerfmaster that was identical but they quit carrying it. The Woodslicer is a impulse hardened spring steel blade with a thin kerf and a very small cross-section for the size. It will dull fairly quickly but it is sharper than carbon blades initially. It allows for very good resawing with a small saw that has limited tension.

Bandsaws and bandsaw blades are my fetish so I can talk about them for hours.

We watched a dude re-sawing by hand in the woodshop at colonial Williamsburg a while back. It was crazy how talented this guy was and kind of sobering that the art has pretty much been lost to progress

he cut in triangles, alternating sides

I also recommend PMC in Hammond, although I have never bought band saw blades there either

If you are willing to drive to the NOLA area, Southern Saw and Cutter in Harahan will definitely have what you need. I know for a fact that they will cut/weld any length blade. I use them exclusively for saw blade sharpening, with no complaints. They don't have a huge show room like PMC, but they a good people that know what they are doing.

The 2 closest Woodcrafts that I know of are in Houston, Tx and Pelham, Al.

When I get time, I will definitely go check out PMC. I ended up for now ordering from Peachtree. Looking at PMC website it appears that have plenty of router bits. That will be my next project is to finally get a router lift for my router table.

After that I may finally look into getting a spiral head for my 20" planer. I have one in my 8" jointer and have loved using it over the years.

The most beautiful and complete set of Whiteside bits you’ve ever seen. A whole dang wall. You’ll go cross-eyed!

They do indeed.

Brazos in Denham has a pretty big supply of router bits on hand as well. They carry a good bit of Festool power tools and Freud/Diablo bits and blades. Can't say that I've seen bandsaw blades there before. Might have them though.
