I had a huge envie for red beans and rice today, so I cheated a bit and opened up a big can of Blue Runner, browned up some Verons, added a stick of butter and a small onion, bell pepper & celery, and basically emptied the spice cabinet in the pot including file powder.

Monday is red beans and rice day, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make them other days too.

Not on Yom Kippur its not. Granted, no food at all is kosher on Yom Kippur.

ETA: Today is Yom Kippur.

Nothing like the warm smell of carnitas rising up through the air.

I was in my 20s before I knew red beans and rice was a Monday thing. My mawmaw made them EVERY Tuesday for some reason.
