I'm looking for something with these basic things:

Basically, any reasonably upscale property with an exceptional white sand beach and exceptional water. We need to walk out of the room onto a gorgeous beach. Activities/day trips/ night clubs aren't really the priority-just a spot for older people who want to "go and stay" sit in the sun and be in the water all day. Would be a 10–12-day trip flying out of New Orleans. Snorkeling at the property or nearby would also be great.

Thanks in advance.

Playa Arena in Isla Mujeres

Book the "deluxe" room... your doors literally open up onto the beach and water is amazing. Isla is mostly adults, there are no nightclubs on the island, most bars close at midnight.

We leave for Valentin Imperial Rivera Maya on 10/10. I have heard nothing but great things, so I can report back when we return. The place looks amazing, but very spread out. We booked the room on the beach.

This spot has been mentioned multiple times on this board, but for what yall want Excellence Club at Excellence Playa Mujeres. It's on the upper end price-wise, but will have the best combo of ease of transportation, beach, service, great rooms, and very nice restaurants.

There are a couple of night clubs on Hidalgo but nothing crazy.
My goal us to get a condo on the south part of three island. I go there a few times a year. Quick 2 hour flight. I use Carm to get to island

I read it as “Mexico Beach” which is between Panama City Beach and Destin.

I went there many times when it was just a roadside park with no condos.

Costa Rica qualifies too. The Canadians (usually from Alberta, so like Houston people) will be out in force, but very acceptable.

I spent almost 8 months in Costa Rica in 21/22. I know it well. I’m looking for the opposite of CR for this trip- a long white sand beach , cocktails and clear blue water. As simple as it gets is what I want for this one.

Appreciate all the suggestions.

We just spent 7 days at Secrets Akumal Riveria Maya. This was our second time there. Beautiful property and beach. I think it checks all your boxes.

We spent New Years week two years in a row. One time we stayed at Secrets Akumal, the second time at a different Secrets resort. My cousin owns a travel agency, she handles everything.

Both were great.

Just returned from Isla Holbox. Very small island north west of Cancun. Only drawback is takes 2 hours to get there by car service and ferry.. You can book a puddlejumper from Cancun airport to holbox that takes 30 mins; which wife and I did and was a great experience. Not cheap!

North Beach at Isla Mujeres has the better of the beaches and water quality but Isla Mujeres gettin too crowded and overpriced. But, holbox still has very nice beaches. There are no mega resorts there, mostly boutique hotels and food is excellent. If you lookin to relax holbox is your place. Check out Casa Las Tortugas. We booked the Tucan room on ground floor and walked right onto the breach. The sand is groomed every morning and has many coconut trees for shade.

Reporting back from Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya. We are currently in Houston waiting for our connecting plane back home and I am here to tell you this place was nothing short of amazing. The food was top notch at every dinner restaurant and all of the service was excellent. We will be going back.
