Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek and Attorney General Dan Rayfield announced they are taking legal action against President Donald Trump's decision to federalize the Oregon National Guard.

The move comes after Trump invoked Title 10, authorizing 200 Guard members to perform federal duties for 60 days, including protecting federal property amid protests.

Gov. Kotek expressed her concerns, stating, "There is no insurrection or threat to public safety that necessitates military intervention in Portland or any other city in our state." She emphasized that deploying the National Guard on Oregon streets is "an abuse of power and a disservice to our communities and our service members."

Attorney General Rayfield filed a preliminary injunction in U.S. District Court, arguing that the President's order violates the Posse Comitatus Act and infringes on the 10th Amendment. Rayfield stated, "Oregon communities are stable, and our local officials have been clear: we have the capacity to manage public safety without federal interference."

How do they explain the videos of violence, rioting and whatnot? Seriously... do they address it at all?

Couldn't the refusal of a state to keep law and order prompt federal sanctions?

Okay, so it happens but it's quelled immediately and isn't a recurring sort of thing. Antifa attacking the federal building every night during Covid, that was AI.

If it is the same thing they did in California the NG troops will just be standing around watching the show from the perimeter of Fed property.

They are saying they are old and not the current situation.

They will lose. They are part of the US and the President is still the Commander in Chief of our armed forces. They should become part of Canada if they object.

Is there any truth to that? I know old videos and pictures get cycled around- but are they saying NOTHING is going on?

If sides were reversed and we were in the last administration, she would 100% allow and encourage it. They are so fake. Imagine any real citizen not wanting more cops or other protection no matter where you are. If you all of a sudden saw a Nat Guard soldier at every gas station in BR, would you go protest?

Of course they have.

Little doubt the district court judge will grant the injunction.

Question is whether the 9th Circuit will be sufficiently chastened from the LA case to reverse.

Wasn't this already settled in a lawsuit?

Pretty sure it applies to all states.

"against enemies foriegn or domestic"

The courts ruled, Los Angles lost, Portlandia will also lose.

Antifa has been based in Oregon for decades and the government there has allowed that terrorist orginization to hide, train and plot against The United States of America.

I'm confused on this one. Where do things stand after the September 2 ruling that Trump broke the law when he sent NG troops to L.A.? Was there another ruling after that one?

Of course you are...

A federal judge initially ruled the action illegal, but a Ninth Circuit appeals court hearing suggested the administration might retain control pending further legal review.
This marked the first time since 1965 that a president had activated a state's National Guard without the governor's approval.
