Rats! Was thinking of getting one for S Jr. as a starter vehicle.

I guess I’ll just get him a wraith.

People are buying fewer and fewer sedans. Particularly luxury buyers.

It seems like sedans are only gonna be for like cheap cars in the future.

Its ridiculous how everyone has to drive tanks now. Remember how everyone giggled when the Ford Excursion came out? That's a normal SUV now.

I have one and it’s an awesome car. Compliments my SL 550. Best of both worlds, luxury roadster and luxury sedan.

The 1990s LS400 was one of the greatest automobiles ever made.

The story and engineering effort of the original LS is incredible.

This, Toyota spent over a billion dollars in the ‘80’s on R&D

The older ones reminded me of Mercedes. They fixed the front grill a little bit on the new ones but still my least favorite design. Compact SUV continues to dominate

You will eat the bugs.
You will live in the pod.
You will drive the crossover.

They stopped investing in the Lexus LS. It wasn’t the best luxury sedan. It wasn’t the best sports sedan. It wasn’t that reliable anymore. It is an also ran that Lexus allowed to get out of date. The model they have now is nearly 8 years old, and it honestly missed the mark even when it was released by ditching the V8 (which was a hallmark of the Lexus LS) - the same issues the Tundra is having now, the Lexus LS was having years earlier because it’s the same crappy engine.

The Mercedes E and S are still doing well. BMW is moving M5’s still. The Cadillac CT5 and CT4 including the V and Blackwing, are still selling. Tesla is selling the Model S.

But those companies spend $$$ keeping their products competitive. And they are all excellent in some way.

My mom had a 2000 model, purchased new. It seemed SO nice to me at the time! Like riding on glass (probably because I was used to riding in friends' college cars.)

Not since 2017.

These things have ditched the V8 and has been using the same terrible engine that the Tundra has…just a different oil pan.

You guys think that downsizing into a less reliable V6 engine is annoying in a $50,000 pickup. Buyers of $90,000 sedans - especially those accustomed to the smooth, reliable Lexus V8 - are even more annoyed by it.

It’s an uphill battle but Lexus was fighting it with an older design with a V6 engine that the market rightfully didn’t like or trust.

They did this to themselves. They canceled the GS. To cover that gap, they moved the LS downmarket in every way but price.

Yeah, I meant the old ones.

They made BMW more reliable.

As a ESH owner, good riddance. The LS never comped to the 7 or S series, just a heavy underpowered large sedan. This wasn’t Toyota/Lexus lane. They have mastered that small and mid size sedan in both ICE and hybrid. Leave the heavy lux sedans to the chauffeured folks.
