I can corroborate. I am not from Tuscaloosa. I have a vague memory of wondering "what the hell is kickpin?
Somehow it makes more sense to me now than kickball. Maybe it's the Taco Casa.

Nah it was kickpen. Just take a pen from meemaws desk. Much lighter than a bowling pin but dangerous to try to catch a throw near the face.

I know it sounds weird, but we called it "kickpin" growing up. It was always known as this in my elementary school and amongst my friends who went to other schools. I just asked my dad(who grew up in Tuscaloosa too in the 60s) and he said they called it kickpin. I had no idea that only folks from Tuscaloosa called it that

We did this too but you called "pepsi cola" to do that. Basically you can pick the ball up and punt it
