If we don’t implement a strategy to relieve pressure on the offensive line and running backs this week, Ole Miss will likely secure a 7-10 point victory at minimum.

Having a mobile quarterback allows the offensive line some margin for error, increasing the chances of making positive plays even when mistakes happen.

However, with a quarterback who has virtually no mobility and a running game as predictable as the sunrise in the east, the offensive line must execute flawlessly on every play. All five linemen need to perform their blocks perfectly. For example, even if the center, left guard, and tackle execute a run-left play perfectly, if the tight end on the strong side fails to pick up a blitzing cornerback, the running back will be tackled behind the line of scrimmage.

In contrast, a mobile quarterback offers more options. If the tight end misses the blitz, the quarterback can tuck the ball and run around the opposite side, using the free tight end as a lead blocker. This flexibility helps offset mistakes and keeps the defense guessing.

This is the 3rd negative Topic about the team that you've started in the last 3 days. This (like your others) will be downvoted into oblivion.

You're either a hypochondriac or (more likely) an Alter. Either way .

That's some of the biggest load of BS ever written. The advantages of a mobile QB mean you can equate numbers in the run game by adding another blocker on a QB run or reading an unblocked defender. This allows for the offense to be able to handle the amount of defenders in the fit. The defense can always outnumber the offense if the QB isn't a threat to run.

No need to overcomplicate things with adding a new package.

Based on how Juan Johnson looked running the ball, just give him plenty of carries in the normal offensive package.

He was decisive and ran hard with attitude.

spreading teams out helps with that though. most teams will put at least 1 safety deep which helps with that 1 man off aspect

I understand where you're coming from, but the advantages of a mobile QB go beyond just "equating numbers" by adding another blocker or reading an unblocked defender. While it’s true that a mobile QB can act as an additional runner or blocker, their impact is more nuanced and strategic.

A mobile QB forces the defense to account for multiple threats simultaneously, which limits their ability to commit extra defenders to blitz or stack the box without risking big plays. This threat changes how defenses allocate their personnel and assignments, often creating hesitation or confusion.

If the QB isn’t a running threat, defenses can safely overload the box or blitz because they know the QB won’t exploit open space. This predictability allows defenses to outnumber the offense and disrupt plays more effectively.

Spreading teams out can usually get teams into 2 high looks. But coaches are smart. They will show 2 roll to 1 and get that extra guy in the run fit. That's what Florida was doing. We still hit the 100 yard mark but they made things really difficult for us. We need Nuss to take the top off a hit a couple deep shots this week. That will open up the run game.

Edited to add example

We used 11 personel a bunch against Florida meaning we had 6 guys blocking mostly. Florida would have a 6 man box then sneak a 7th guy into the box post snap and outnumber us in the run game.

I have a sneaky suspicion that you may see the wildcat package used on Sat. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they ran Nuss on a QB draw since no team is expecting it.

Some of you are retarded.
Ole Miss has played absolutely no one on defense yet. They put up 30 on Kentucky’s vaunted defense. Oh noz! Arky? lol come on.

I trust that Blake Baker has a game plan. Hint hint…. #7 will be close by Chambliss at all times.

Ole Miss has faced solid offenses, and scoring 30 on Kentucky’s defense shows they can perform against good teams—not that Kentucky’s defense is overrated. Arkansas isn’t a pushover, so dismissing Ole Miss’s defensive challenges is unfair. Blake Baker is a smart coordinator; simply shadowing #7 won’t be their whole plan. Effective defenses rely on schemes and adjustments, not just single-player coverage. So, don’t underestimate Ole Miss’s defense or coaching.

Did you not see the long thread I started yesterday about basically the same thing? (Except I think Michael Van Buren is the one to do it with)
