Sewell is the top rated OT in the NFL and has been a top 5 OT each year. The game is won in the trenches and not at the skill positions. Burrow would likely still be playing if he had Sewell protecting his blind side.

Bengals made it to the Super Bowl though. Have the lions?

It's a fair question. Burrow isn't going to last much longer at this rate. Sewell could've helped a lot

Well I’m sure the Falcons don’t regret picking Pitts over both.

You'd have a point if Jamarr Chase was just some average WR...

Sewell is a right tackle, which greatly diminishes his value, although he is very good.

It’s not that one decision, it’s 95% of the other personnel decisions that have led them here. Plenty of chances to sure up the roster.

Counter point, the bengals were able to get an upper echelon left tackle in free agency while they never could’ve had even close to a chance at getting a Chase level weapon in FA.

The problem with the bengals hasn’t been lack of resources on the OLine. They’ve put a ton of draft and FA capital into their OLine.

The problem is their coach and scouting department both suck.

They need to do more to help Burrow on the OL, but id say that Chase worked out haha. He just won the triple crown and those types are worth just as much as an elite OT IMO. They need to get some FA help and draft well on the OL in the off season tho. Burrow is the most important player in their franchises history, they need to protect him as such.

Sewell isn't as good at LT and isn't an elite pass protector.

Correct. They have just missed on upgrading their OL.

It's easier to find OL than it is elite WRs, but you still have to have a certain level of competency in evaluating the OL options.

Exactly.

Sewell is PFF's #1 OT due to his insane run-blocking, too. His pass block grade has never cracked 80 (and is the 2nd lowest of his career at 72.5 so far in 2025).

Lol. A defense’s success mostly comes down to having a DT that can 2 gap and corners that can hold up in man. The latter can be overcome with the blitz, but it better get home

Cool. Did they win it? Have they done anything since then? Why haven’t they won anything of note since?

You ALWAYS take an elite Tackle over an elite WR. Always. Tom Brady won 3 SBs with Matt Light. He won none with Randy Moss.

I swear I’m the biggest Burrow fanboy there is. I’ve had the Sunday ticket just to watch his games since he was drafted.

That said, the Bengals OL would be rated better if Burrow wouldn’t treat every play like it was 4th down and the Super Bowl was on the line. He needs to study a bunch of Tom Brady in Tampa film. Too much pressure for there to be enough time for the play to develop? Throw the damn thing away, scream at your OL and break a couple tablets on the sideline. Stop trying to dance in a collapsing pocket on 1st and 10 just to miss your five yard out route. It’s stupid. Burrow is a large part of the problem.

This is irrelevant as they've reached the superbowl without drafting him. The real question is why haven't they secured a LT after that is the question.
