Should we create a “Taysom Hill” package for Michael Van Buren?

Evidently, he’s a threat to both pass and run.
Maybe we could do like Sean Payton and the Saints and create packages just for him.

It could be a good way to change up the pace and get the defense off balance. Giving the defense one more thing to account for can make a huge difference. Even when they know it’s coming, it’s hard to stop these QB runs because of the extra blocker. Taysom Hill is evidence of that. It’s a numbers game.

It could be especially effective since Van Buren throws a quick, sharp pass. That will always be a threat if he decides to throw it.

He isn't close to Taysom's size.

We would kill him if he was used similarly.

I thought that’s what Jujuan Johnson was for… Ch. 9 of Sloan’s Secret Playbook

Not really. He would just get a few runs each game. He wouldn’t be playing every down at multiple different positions like Taysom. The Saints make him act as a jack of all trades.

It should already exist for Jujuan and I half expect to see it this weekend

True, but Van Buren might be more of a threat to actually throw it.

Another good idea. Maybe this is the type of creativity we need to get our run game jump started.

Van Buren might be more of a legitimate threat to throw a quick pass instead of just running it.

That’s just high school. It doesn’t translate to college necessarily.

By that logic, let’s just make Ju’Juan Johnson QB1 next year. (Just like Russell Sheperd, right?)

A Taysom Hill type package would be more fitting for Bauer Sharp.

But Johnson should have some Antwaan Randle-El or Darren McFadden type stuff.

They could put a line up on the field with Johnson, Sharp,B rown, Thomas, Green, and Berry and just shuffle guys to different positions with Johnson and Sharp rotating at QB. Johnson, Brown, Thomas, and Berry going between RB and WR. Green at WR or TE. And Sharp at FB or TE. Just crazy single wing, wildcat bullshite plays but don't allow the defense to sub.

It's a bad idea, but it's a fun idea.

Not sure if serious. Bauer Sharp is not fast enough to be a legitimate running QB, and he can’t throw the ball at all. He has no similarities to Taysom whatsoever.

but are we threatening to pass? or just going to run? Seems like we lose the mobility needed to use him Wildcat style. He isnt that guy.

He started his career at QB.

ETA: But also, if you read through the end of the post you'd be able to gauge how serious I was.

That’s one of the factors that makes the Taysom Hill package effective. He is a legitimate threat to throw as well. It’s worth it if it makes the defense hesitate for 0.5 seconds.
