Having read most of the Clancy books, regarding Jack Ryan, and seen the movies, I didn't care for the Amazon version one bit. Nothing against Krasinski at all, like him well enough, but nothing about the show felt familiar.
I mean, I did give it a try. And having liked the different actors portraying Ryan, (Baldwin, Ford, Affleck) , I don't have the issue of "Well, its' Harrison Ford or it's not REALLY Jack Ryan!".
I never saw Chris Pine in Shadow Recruit. Anyone catch it? I've not heard anything about it.
I guess your mileage may vary.

They made Jim Greer a fricking Muslim
I still enjoyed it but they woked it up
Not that Clancy would have cared
They changed the terrorists in The Sum of All Fears from crazy muslims to eastern europeans and asked Clancy if he was OK with that change. He basically said “i dont care, they paid me a lot of money.”

I enjoyed S1 and S2, don’t remember anything from the latter seasons

Tom Clancy went out and wrote books that reflected the real world and mixed in some clever mystery. Which got him in trouble with military intelligence, wondering how a civilian wrote a fiction series that so closely resembled… not at liberty to say.
He wrote the books he wanted and they sold a boatload. Why anyone would want to mess with that is beyond me.

I generally try to avoid looking for political messages in movies and shows, which I think you go overboard on. That being said, Jack Ryan season 2 is Exhibit A to justify your complaints. That went completely woke agenda. That's the season where you had Ryan dealing with the Fascist Right-wing government of ... Venezuela, which needed to be overthrown by a leftist movement.
Because of course, banana republic dictators care what news anchors think. As I recall, that's what prompted El Presidente to honor the claims of election tampering and step down, but not before Ryan raided their version of the White House and punch him in the face.

Tom Clancy couldn't have written it any better.
So, they did the literal 'punch a Nazi / Fascist in the face' bit?
So subtle.
I only go hard on these folks because they insist on lecturing us about The Message, time and time again.
But thanks

I don’t know that I’ve ever agreed more with a post in my life. That being said, I do enjoy the show for the most part. Shadow Recruit was a call back to 2000/2010s spy thriller where they just used Jack Ryan as a launching vehicle.
S2 was basically an inverse leftist retcon of what happened with Brazil during the Bulsonero where they were the good guys.

This was 2019, prior to covid.
But that's really only part of the issue...
Every facet of that season was diametrically the opposite of what Clancy did as a writer.
Venezuela is a Communist, Far Left country. Up there with Cuba as being the most Leftist in the Western Hemisphere. No way in hell Clancy would flip the political leanings of a nation in his books, because that instantly breaks from reality- his baseline premise to start every tale.
No reason to do so... except the obvious propaganda reason.
Beyond that, he had them kill a US congressman, I think a senator. And although it was "strongly suspected", there was a link or 2 missing to prevent 100% confirmation, ... so the US did nothing. And if I remember, it wasn't even an opposition senator.
You and I both know in reality, if Venezuela had a congressman killed and we felt pretty sure we knew they did it, that little country would be having A VERY BAD DAY, very quickly. That's not even up for rational discussion.
Then, the concept that a military strongman dictator who ruled his country with an iron fist would concede the election because CNN covered exit polls... again so out of touch, you can't suspend disbelief. Dictators don't care about "elections", because they win by whatever margin they decided they would. It's usually unanimous, and anyone who denies that is a terrorist attempting to cause insurrection and shall be shot. Oh, and frick CNN (or any other news agency), they just ban their presence and call it outside interference.
Clancy would have deleted all those fantasies, and written something based on the reality of the day.

I watched S1, felt like it was a chore to do so, haven’t been back since

i know they are supposed to be different, but i much prefer the terminal list.

As noted, S2 was ridiculous. They had a completely credible, real-world plot line to fall back on and they completely reversed it because the real world didn't align with Hollywood's ideological outlook. It was watchable, but it's so absurd as to be laughable.
I do enjoy the show in general.
Like Terminal List, it has a certain element of cheesiness that Amazon productions all have. It doesn't ruin the shows, but I just think there is an amateur-ish feel that you wouldn't have on Apple or HBO. Hard to describe, but it's true for most of their originals IMO.
Terminal List if done by HBO would have you staying up at night reflecting on how dark it got. I just don't think Amazon really has that capability. And I'm well aware that a lot of people probably don't care about that.

S1 was pretty good. S2 was terrible. Did it go on after that? I didn’t watch further and I’m a huge Clancy fan.
This was mediocre at best. Then, it became terrible.
