After the Doolittle raid, Japan killed more Chinese than the US lost servicemen

in the Pacific
Japan was angry after the raid by the US in WW2 and the closest Ally country it could take its anger out on was China.
China’s leader reported 250,000 civilians killed. Even cutting that number in half due to exaggeration is more than the 108,000 US casualties in the entire Pacific war.

my nextdoor neighbor growing up was one of Doolittle’s raiders.
Every once and a while i’d bring him mail that accidentally got delivered to us and Id see a full wall of medals when he opened the door

They hate Japanese with a passion and they havent forgot about that shite either. The few Chinese I know wont even think about buying a toyota. My wife asked a lady we know what kinda car she was gonna get when she was in the market for a New car. As soon as my wife told her to look at the toyotas I instantly knew what was coming next!! You talk about a rant like never before.
I was like baby they hate those people for what they did to there people. And she felt china and left her husband there and says frick chinas polluted arse. And will never go back, but fuxk the Japanese double

How Japan got off seemingly scot free from the atrocities that they committed before and during WWII is a mystery.

Not as much of a mystery: Why 90% of the movies about WW2 focus on Germany.

So are we going to be sympathetic towards the feelings modern Chinese feel about the Japanese despite being generations removed from the atrocity?
While telling modern Black Americans to get over slavery and segregation because they’re generations removed from the atrocity?
(Yes this is a troll comment)

I think we know why.

They gave us all the data they had collected at Unit 731 so we let them off the hook.

We would have had to justify dropping not one but two nuclear weapons

No, that's not it. Germany killed the people who shall not be trifled with.

I really think the two giant mushroom clouds had something to do with it.
The US wisely wasn’t going to push the issue and Russia had their own ethnic cleansing to deal with. Germany didn’t have any moral standing at that point.
So who was going to call them out?

You think Japan was any better? There were basically zero Jews in Japan after the war

Yeah, well, scott-free other than that.
And the 4,600 we tried for war crimes, the 950 we executed, and the 400 life sentences we doled out.

I lived in Malaysia for a few years. The Japs wiped out the coast and the entire Malaysia peninsula. The country now has a huge Chinese and Indian population. They were wiped out due to the Brits abandonment of the nickel mines and didn’t want war. So the story goes.

It had more to do with Japan initiating a scorched earth campaign and using biological and chemical warfare against Chinese cities as they grew desperate in the face on the Allied island hopping.
What it really comes down to is the China, nationalists and Maoists, had and still has no regard for its own citizens. Hell, China killed more than half a million of their own people by flooding the Yellow River in 1938. Another 40-50 MILLION died under Maoist initiatives.
Cry me a river.
