Thomas Jefferson gets my vote. Skeptical of a large centralized government, believed in smaller, local economies. Great business mind purchasing Louisina.

George Washington is hard not to mention because he is the greatest American of all time.

I like John Jay too.

Relearning history some because its important for this great country.

Why not both!

I’d give my right nut for any of those dudes to come back and see the United States as it is now.

Who would they choose to a Dual first?!?

Most of the founding fathers were based - but for most based, this is the obvious answer!

He took a starving, half-frozen army, crossed an icy river in the middle of the night on Christmas to murder Hessian mercenaries.

Jefferson and Franklin.

Not so coincidentally, two of my favorite Americans of all time.

Sam Adams (taxation without representation) and Patrick Henry (Give me liberty or give me death) were incredible red blooded Americans

James Madison.

He hated being president so much that he left Washington and went home three months before his term ended.

Jefferson just rubs me the wrong way. His weird theist bible being the main reason

Probably mine too.

You can tell that he ruffled a lot of feathers, even amongst a group of revolutionary men fighting for and building the framework of a new country, by some of the people that didn't necessarily like him. He feuded with the likes of Alexander Hamilton, Patrick Henry and John Adams. Jefferson was reported to have hated Henry so bad that he prayed for his death.
