New Orleans has missed a key NFL deadline in its bid to host Super Bowl LXV at the Caesars Superdome in 2031, jeopardizing the city’s chance to secure the game as the Saints and state officials work to finalize the team's long-term stadium lease.

Owners of the NFL's 32 teams gathered in New York this week for the league's fall meetings, and on Tuesday, the Fan Engagement & Major Events Advisory Committee met to review city proposals for hosting the league's major events, including the Super Bowl and the NFL Draft, before recommendations go to the full ownership.

The Saints had planned to submit New Orleans' bid for the 2031 game. But Saints spokesperson Greg Bensel said the team was unable to do so because a lease extension with the state of Louisiana, which owns the stadium, has not yet been finalized beyond 2030. As such, New Orleans isn't on the short list of potential host cities that will go to a full vote of owners sometime later this year.

quote:

"Unfortunately, the Super Bowl committee did meet yesterday and our city cannot advance as an option to bid on future Super Bowl games due to the fact that our lease extension has not been signed," Bensel said via text.

Brian McCarthy, the NFL's vice president of communications, confirmed that the Saints were not able to submit a bid for consideration for 2031.

quote:

The next three Super Bowls, in 2026, 2027 and 2028, have been awarded to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Atlanta, respectively. Las Vegas and Nashville are considered the favorites to host the 2029 and 2030 games.

Conflicts with Mardi Gras and convention schedules would likely prevent New Orleans from hosting Super Bowls between 2032 and 2037, leaving 2038 as the next possible target year if 2031 stays off the table.

The team and state fricked themselves. The NFL requires an active lease on the date of the game and the bidding is six years in advance. Unless they get a Super Bowl in the first three years of the initial 10 year lease, it will be basically impossible because of the five year extensions the the team has to exercise for remainder of the contract.

So the widower hunting skank gets more taxdollars in the new lease and we do not even get a Superbowl out of it and will have to give the ho billions more in another lease extension to get one,

The NFL is the biggest welfare whore in this country.

If you read the article it is pretty obvious they can finish the lease deal up in the next week and still bid for the Super Bowl

The NFL isn't the golden goose anymore; it's a vampire sucking cities dry for events that barely justify the bill. Taylor Swift's Eras Tour three-night stand in October 2024 obliterated that "impact" with a staggering $200-500 million surge from 150,000-200,000 fans flooding hotels at 100% occupancy, devouring meals, and dropping $1,300 each on merch and mayhem—equivalent to three Super Bowls crammed into one glittering weekend, all without a dime of taxpayer handouts or decade-long lease blackmail.

The timing on a finalized lease still isn't clear. But Bensel said that Gayle Benson would try to persuade NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to put the Saints 2031 bid for the Super Bowl back on the short-list if the lease is signed before the owners hold their vote.

"It will be up to Mrs. Benson to convince the NFL and Roger to please allow us to bid," he said.

Nope it says Gayle Benson would try to persuade NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to put the Saints 2031 bid for the Super Bowl back on the short-list. And Goodell has been such a friend to New Orleans....LOL

The lease extension will be done within a week and we will be on the list for 2031 May not get it I would bet Nashville will but maybe Nashville will get 2032 this is just a little extra pressure from the Saints to get the lease done I think having the Chiefs here hurt some of the crowds coming dor the Super Bowl cause they had their fans had fatigue. If the bills would’ve come I think they would’ve flooded the city and the Eagles brought a lot of people cause they have a huge fan base.

Isn’t the mayor on a vacation? Then she asked permission for another one to Iceland? Might be a problem.

What a joke. How could you possibly miss a key deadline? 2038? Really? That's a huge hit the city will take if they can't host a Superbowl for 13 years.

Had enough yet Aints fans? My boycott of all things Aints started last season. It is beyond time for all Aints fans to join me in showing Bensuck and Loony that we will no longer accept their stupidity. Loss of money talks people!
