Starting teams at the 30 or 35 ruins defensive games. 1 first down and you are in field goal range with today's kickers

It's to encourage returnable kicks, which is what everyone wanted.

Well yeah. Have you kept up with the rule changes the last 20 years?

Every time I see a College kickoff I'm reminded of how the game was intended to be

It was to limit concussions.

An unnecessary play where 90% of the results are a touchback? I have the opposite opinion. Whenever I see a college kickoff, I am reminded that the NFL is at least trying to bring us back to how it was meant to be played; with returns on kickoffs. I would assume that when the game was invented, guys weren't blasting the ball through the endzone a majority of the time.

That was just the selling feature to the NFLPA and fans. The league really doesn't care about the number of concussions players get.

The change was to bring back the excitement of big returns.

I believe injuries incurred on kick offs were reduced almost by half with the new rules.I personally don't think the nfl cares about the excitement of the kickoff. I mean look at it now lol. The short field may increase scoring which the league does like.

With the amount of money they have had to shell out to former players and now to the CBA as part of their deals you better believe they do care. Money is always the biggest driver

All situations should start at the 20. This 30-35 is ridiculous.

Not when Aaron Burrell boots it. It’s like 97% a touchback.
