He gets a large bonus every time he breaks it, so he breaks it by the smallest amount possible each time. Smart work

Gonna be so rich

He didn't invent the method of making money, but he's certainly capitalizing on it.

Absolutely!

Not only does he get a bonus every time he breaks his own WR, but he gets the publicity (see this post) for continuously breaking the record when, in reality, he could have cleared the previous 13 record breaking heights LONG ago.

He’s made $1.2 million just in bonuses for beating his own world records.

Is this the farthest we’ve gotten in a Mondo thread without someone claiming he is a traitor to the US

On his third attempt and he brushed the bar on his way down but it stayed up. Then he put on a celebratory show for the full stadium that had stayed to watch him after all other events had finished.kussing his beautiful Swedish GF which caused the crowd to erupt. The Greek vaulter who got silver gave Mondo a little bit of competition but just a little bit. I was watching the BBC coverage and they have anointed him one of the greatest track athletes ever.

In other news, Olympic 1500 m champ Cole Hocker is DQd for shoving his way between two other runners in the last 50 meters in the prelims. He is counter appealing and he did impede one of the guys he pushed past so not sure his appeal will work.

I wish the entity that pays out these bonuses would just say that they will pay him the same amount for how ever many cm he breaks the record by. So he can shoot for his true potential before he starts declining with age and still get the same payout. If its $100k per record, then pay him $1M for beating it by 10cm.

Mondo has competed in 39 pole vault competitions since August 2023, 2+ years ago. He has won EVERY PV event, jumped over 20 feet 22 times, and set 9 WR's. His current WR is 6.30M = 20' 8". Replay of some PV's looks like he could easily clear 21 ft. He turned Pro in 2020 and is only 25 yrs old. His current world level fame is on par with peak Tiger Woods and Usain Bolt. Lots of fans go to world track & field events just to watch Mondo. Kid is a machine ... congrats Mondo and the Duplantis family who are LSU alum and great people

Damn. He was awesome last time in the olympics and I watched his qualifying. His last 200 is so fun to watch.

He ran a strange race. He usually sits at the back and kicks with 100 to go but took the lead in this race at about 700 and lead a lap and then others came around him and he was boxed with 50 to go and bullied his way through a small gap which got him DQd
