My point was the gameplan was to not take chances and let the defense win the game. They should have blocked better and not fumbled and not throw the pick. The offense didn't do its part, but they I am certain they went into that game thinking the Moore is hurt and Chester got dominated by LaTech. Lets just run quick routes and run what we can to get out with a win. They rarely looked downfield.

Right. Their conservative gameplan doesn't work if your OL doesn't run block. There were also things like Anderson dropping a pass behind the LOS.

Flynn also just kinda broke it down on OTB. When the defense had an advantage in the box, we threw the quick "screen" to the WR. But they played press on the outside so the CB had better leverage to make a play. If we'd have thrown downfield a few times (even with incompletions) I think the offense would have opened up. The problem was the gameplan was to not make mistakes and let the defense win the game.

You have a 5th year returning starter at QB who is viewed as a potential 1st round pick. You have several talented WRs who have proved they can make plays if put in the right position to do so. You have a solid RB. There are NUMEROUS OCs across the nation who would love to have that time of personnel. That's not a recipe to "not take chances" and let the defense win. This is the second time LSU has had a good 5th year senior returning starter at QB. Given the way of college football today it's entirely likely this will be the last time they have that for a while. The pieces are in place to have one of the better offenses in the country, not a unit you hope you can hide enough to grind out close wins.

From 2009-2018 you saw a "not take chances" offensive approach and the results it brought. Then, in 2019, you saw a new OC come in and say with these personnel we are going to attack...not just hope to avoid mistakes.

I agree but that was the gameplan.

Personally, I think throwing the ball deep (even with incompletions) makes the defense back up a bit and then your RPOs to the WRs behind the line gets a few more yards and you're able to run better with safeties having to respect deep balls.

I think they were worried about Moore vs Banks and really wanted to just get out of this game with a win and let Moore heal.

It’s really that simple. We have to get better at running the football. Maybe the line is just taking a little while to get good chemistry, or maybe they just stink. But the last thing we want is Nuss feeling like he has to make huge throws every series because we’ve seen him get in trouble with that mindset.
