2025 F150 vs Sierra

Whats the OB opinion? Currrently have a 19 Sierra that has a 6 speed crap tranny. Other things are starting to go wrong as well, electronics, leaking oil. Thinking about going with a XLT/Lariat level F150. I haven't driven a Ford since 2000, can I get over 100K out of the new ones? Anything else I should be aware of with the F150?

5.0 F150 if you are choosing between those options. Blue cruise is nice if you can use it.

Get the 5.0.
I doubt I will ever buy a GM again after my current GMC.
Curious to see though what new V8 they come out with.

My 2018 GMC made over 260,000 miles before I traded it in. It had the 6 speed transmission. I traded it in because it was asking for a 3rd transmission.

17 f150 5.0 here with 165k. I've had some repairs, nothing major, biggest is the current one of the ac evaporator leaking. I'm getting it charged and fixing in the spring so I can make sure it works. Pretty solid vehicle for me, I've commuted in it, I tow with it, and road tripped.

I recently purchased the 2025 Lariat F150 V 8 a few months ago. I traded in my 2021 GMC with 86,000 miles. This was my third GMC . The first 2 had transmission failures at around 100,000 miles so I got nervous. They both have comfortable seats , ride well, and have lots of room. I love the standard 36 gallon gas tank on the Ford.

Did you have the 6 speed gmc? My transmission has been worked on twice in 86k, im starting to get nervous.

F150, if you going to tow a lot get the 3.5. The 2nd Gen is a great engine aside from the cam phaser issue which I believe has been ironed out. If you going to use it more as a commuter vehicle, tow occasionaly and idle a lot get the 5.0.
I have a 2020 Sierra with 5.3 and 8 speed, so far I have had a torque converter replaced at 36k and a water pump at 96k. Still on the same battery though. It rides great, tows well and gets good fuel economy.

The 5.0 tows great, I would not let that be a concern with it.

This.
I’m sitting in a 2016 Tundra with 250k miles. All I’ve changed is the oil every 5k miles.
It seems like every person I know with a new truck has been dealing with engine, transmission, electrical, etc issues that shouldn’t happen in new vehicles.
Now I’m coming up on the 10 year, I need a new truck, itch and I honestly don’t want a single thing the manufacturers have to offer.

They do, no doubt. But if you towing heavy loads on hills/mountains, I would go with the 3.5.

I had a ‘13 5.0 that I traded in with 250k miles. Never had any issues.
Currently have a ‘21 3.5 ecoboost with 92k miles. No issues yet. The 3.5 can run circles around my 5.0 in regards to towing.
A buddy of mine has the gmc 3.0 diesel 2023 and it’s spent 6 months in the shop so far. Another buddy with the same truck seems to have no issues. The 3.0 is amazing with mpg which is very tempting if they can iron out the ongoing issues

Have a 2014 F150 w 5.0. 180 K miles and no major issues. Will drive until wheels fall off, considering how much the new ones cost and all the reliability issues that they have

I would still get the 5.0 due to issues with the 3.5 turbos going out with doing a lot of towing. It has been some years but I know three guys have turbos fail before 75K. They all three towed fairly regularly with moderate to heavy loads.
Also you are the first person I am hearing thay is having issues with the 3.0. What exactly is wrong with it?

Yes, very easily. Any truck on the market now is going to easily get you past 100k miles with no major repairs needed unless you lose the lemon lottery
