I said the same thing a couple days ago. A dude with some basic hunting binos could scan all the spots where an assassin could set up. If he sees something then pull the speaker off stage.

His security was there to prevent attacks from up close and coordinate with campus police on trespassing folks from events. They weren’t securing rooftops around campus.
