But he claims to be 99% confident that RR will sign with LSU if he gets to make the decision himself.

i agree with him, but that is a huge caveat

Why would his family want him to go elsewhere?

families get promised a lot

Personally think this whole "LSU lied" thing is Daddy Randles doing. What he wants for his sone may or may not be what RR wants. Pretty sure RR would be a Tiger for sure, if not for pops influence. We will see how much of a pull that is.

I really think it's just one of them throwing the tantrum, but unfortunately he got to do it in a very public way. I would love to be a fly on the wall in that house tonight. TENSION

many parents of uber-talented kids jump at the chance to be in the spotlight. It's possible that another staff has pumped up his dad and made him believe he is a player...
If I were a coach who thought I was losing the battle with the player, I'd start playing the parents.

RR needs to man up.
RJF did the same thing when he graduated. It was weeks after NSD before he signed with LSU if I remember right. Dont give in RR, follow your heart to Baton Rouge.

From another Board:
"Talked to my sources in Bastrop a few minutes ago and there is truth in the statement that the whole family wants him at LSU and close to home. (Especially his mom) However, his dad is concerned about the LSU depth and pushing OU a little. They said his dad is not going to force him in any direction but will point out the negatives if he has to (which he has). Rueben does not feel that he was lied to and is not scared of competition.
If anything they said this situation could work in LSU's favor in the end. They feel Rueben will want to prove he is not concerned about the depth at LSU and he doesn't want the LSU staff and fans feel slighted.
Take it FWIW but I stand by these two sources and will continue to do so if they are right or wrong on this one."

man, i love how all along everyone said how great the family was handling the whole scenario and now it seems like on signing day eve the head of the family is pitching a fit and acting like a little baby
I would say that all along, the family has handled the situation greatly. And lately, the family has handled it poorly.

Let the kid do what he wants. If his dad thinks OU is a better place, he should probably go to OU. I'd go with what my family tells me, cause I know they want what's best for me.

Dad probably likes OU for its connection to Big Red Motors

I like the sound of that.

That's the problem his mom and brother say LSU but his dad wants him to go to OU

This is the most believeable thing I've heard all night.
Thanks again for another gem, Apex
