Epidemic - Not Answering the Phone

Coming from someone who's under 30 and texts as much as anyone, for the life of me I cannot understand why it is so difficult to get someone to answer a phone call. Maybe it's just me, but I strive to not miss a call between 7 and 5 on my work phone. I bet I make 40-50 work related calls every day, and maybe 10 of them get answered.... Anyone else have similar issues these days?

Part of it is spam calls. If I don't know the number, I am not answering it.

If I get a phone call it's usually bad news or at least something I dont want to deal with. A text lets me decide whether I want to answer it and/or gives me time to think about it.

I just looked and it seems for this week about 85% of my calls were either answered or returned within the hour.
I'm not an annoying pain in the arse salesman though.

No one wants to talk on the phone. If it is work task related just text it to them.

I don’t answer numbers I don’t know, largely because it’s mostly spam (I might riot if I get one more call about selling my parents home).

Yea, your superintendents and field guys can't answer the phone in the unit. Just text them...
eta: or get out in the field and go talk to them.
If you are calling these guys that many times a day/week then they have more than likely blocked your number.

My FIL would not answer his landline when MIL was alive. He expected her to get it. Most of the time he doesn’t hear it and the rest of the time he doesn’t care and just lets it ring. He doesn’t know how to get his voice messages either, doesn’t care to. It is what it is.
