Schizo on it…

I’m raised old school. Did not. Married long time. Sometimes happily (kidding).

Old school thinking:
Marriage is one of, if not the most, significant impact on people in my life, one another, on kids and descendants lines…certainly in my experience and family. Can point to strong marriage as basis for successful people in my family. Likewise, can point to weak marriage as basis for unsuccessful people in my family. Sure as sunset in west. Therefore, it deserves much respect. Living together ain’t it.

That said, pragmatic me says it makes good sense to get test run in advance of such important life commitment. Augments, not counters, old school point above. Get over respect and get pragmatic.

What say you?

Good.

Get an idea of how they are to live with.

It’s not 1950 any longer.

. Yeah, how’s that working out? Maybe people knew better and lived better back then. Don’t live together before marriage.

And everything is worse because of it.

Historically you were more likely to end up divorcing if you lived together before the wedding.

Now it's about even, so there's still no advantage to shacking.

They didn’t know any better, they were just told what they had to do.

We moved in together when we got engaged. It just didn't make any sense for us to live a mile apart and pay 2 rents when we stayed with each other most of the time anyway. Not to mention now you have one electric bill, one internet bill etc.

lol…

If you think things were “better” in 1950, then you’re living in a nostalgic fog.

The best time to ever be alive is right now.

Getting married is a bad idea. Living with an SO is great though.

Depending on the person/couple, I can see the advantages for either.

I did not shack up until we were married. Next month will be 21 years and we've been together 24 1/2.

I don't think it would have been fair to our child for us not to live together.
