Hiking and camping suggestions in or near Louisiana

Im looking into suggestions for camping with nearby hiking this fall. Looking for probably a 3-4 day trip including travel. Based out of Baton Rouge. We've been to a number of the parks in the southeast corner of the state but open to driving out a bit further if the juice is worth the squeeze. Open to tent camping or cabin. Ideally would like some terrain like you can find in tunica hills. Will be with kids fwiw. Willing to head into a neighboring state as Louisiana tends to be flat. Water access for fishing and maybe kayaking would also be a plus.
With all that being said, yall got any hot tips on spots we should look into?

Kisatchie is only thing in LA. NWArk looks like it could be great. Providence Canyon in GA

Big Bend, but you will need to fly from BTR or NO vs drive unless you add more days

Petit Jean, Nebo, and Magazine all have great camping but they book up really early for the fall

Wild Azalea trail in Kisatchie. From Woodworth to Lake Valentine is 25 miles.
Backbone trail, Caroline Dormon, and sandstone can combine for 28 mile loop. Also Kisstchie just north of Alexandria.
Lake Chicot state park has a 20 mile loop arpund it. Been years since I've been. Easy trail. Not sure if it's still open.
Black Creek trail near Hattiesburg. I did about 10 miles and it was nice. I've heard some other parts overgrown but it's been a few years since I've been.
Clear springs in Mississppi. North of Crosby. Nice little 9 mile loop. Good camping in areas.
Close place out of state.
Pinhoti trail in Alabama. 7 hour drive from BR
Sispey wilderness in Alabama. Also 7 hours.
Eagle rock loop in Arkansas. Also 7 hours.
Lonestsr trail north of Houston. 90 miles about. I'd rather hike the Wild Azalea 3 times. It has plenty road walking.

Backbone trail is my favorite trail in LA. 8 miles. Cool sandstone rock formations. Camping at Bayou Kisatchie campground. Has a cool creek for kids to play in.

Good rec. This is legit through hiking, but you have to go prepared. I learned that the hard way.

Mena area in Arkansas has hiking trails and elevation changes. Not that far to drive.

Plus some road walking, but not a crazy amount. There is a loop around Cheaha state park that would be a good 2 or 3 day trip. Can't remember the trails that make it up.

Before you go all the way to big bend check out garner state park west of San Antonio. It is much closer, and very cool.

I used to like hiking in the national forest near Brooklyn missisippi. Cool wilderness camping.
I would drive on a forrest road. Park my car. Then hike for 6-8 hours. Set up my camp. Stay two days and then hike back.
. I rarely would see other people. No one every came across my camp sites.
It was fun for wilderness camping.
I would bring water filters and dried meals and i enjoyed it.

J.C "Sonny" Gilbert WMA has a few hiking trails with waterfalls and really large trees. one of the trails takes most of a day. I have only map scouted it, but depending on the kids age and hiking prowess; may be all yall need.

I was going to say. Highlands, NC is 3 hours closer drive than Terlingua, TX
